About InfiniumInfinium is an electrofuels provider on a mission to decarbonize the world. Electrofuels are a new class of synthetic fuels made using renewable power and waste carbon dioxide, not petroleum or resources needed to produce food. Infinium electrofuels can be dropped into existing trucks, planes and ships, significantly reducing harmful carbon dioxide emissions compared to fossil-based fuels. In addition to helping the transport industry meet carbon reduction goals, Infinium electrofuels are a lower carbon alternative for chemical processing, including plastics production. Learn why Amazon and other leading cleantech investors have chosen Infinium at www.infiniumco.com.Infinium seeks skilled resources to safely and effectively implement these innovations toward both new product and process development and continuous process improvement, as a member of its Technology team. The role of Research Scientist has been created, and is now being actively sourced, to fill this critical need. This RD&D operations role will include both scientific (experimental operations) and catalyst manufacturing components; both are based at Infinium’s Sacramento, CA location. This role will be hired as a learned professional employee. You will work collaboratively with our team of scientists, engineers, and peer RD&D operations resources. The ideal candidate for this role will have earned a bachelor’s or associate degree in science or engineering. Candidates without a formal degree will also be considered – taking into account the depth and specifics of their related industrial experience and the skill sets developed. (S)he will have at least 3 years relevant industrial experience (research and/or manufacturing setting) – or a combination of post-HS education and relevant industrial experience of the same magnitude. Experimental process development focused on chemical technology development and systems operations are preferred experiential elements. A demonstrated understanding and strong track record of RD&D-oriented process and laboratory safety is essential. The successful candidate must have a high degree of mechanical aptitude and enthusiasm for hands-on work. Experience with process research and/or scale manufacturing and SOP’s is highly desirable. (S)he should be adept in working safely with chemicals and solvents. Candidates should also be skilled in the use of the full suite of common office and R&D software: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Familiarity and skill with JMP or LabVIEW is also desirable. Specific Responsibilities Include
  • Strict adherence to Infinium safety standards and established precautions in bench and prototype-scale experimental systems, as well as in manufacturing operations
  • Working closely with Technology department R&D staff, executing designed experiments and experimental campaigns
  • Carrying out data collection as specified in run plans; assisting in the first-level reduction and interpretation of acquired experimental data sets
  • Contributing to the creation and implementation of engineering prototypes – e.g., for testing materials, heat effects, and separations strategies for small scale proofs of concept
  • Carrying out chemical syntheses of Infinium’s proprietary catalysts, including ongoing synthesis of targeted improvements in incumbent materials, as well as developmental syntheses of new catalyst/materials candidates
  • Participating in occasional shift operations to carry out catalyst manufacturing campaigns
  • Maintaining batch records and SOP’s; ordering and receiving materials and supplies
  • Contributing to archivable documentation of technical progress, including apparatus and experimental plan designs, data and observations, and interpretations and significance
