Position Overview
The Process/Technical Services/Chemical Engineer will support the Roadrunner project and other capital projects by providing process and chemical engineering expertise into the design of facilities to ensure that they operate safely, function as designed to achieve the product rates and yields and find creative solutions to ensure that the projects are on time and on budget.

Position Overview
The Process/Technical Services/Chemical Engineer will support the Roadrunner project and other capital projects by providing process and chemical engineering expertise into the design of facilities to ensure that they operate safely, function as designed to achieve the product rates and yields and find creative solutions to ensure that the projects are on time and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that safety matters most.
- Responsible for process engineering deliverables in the project
- Oversee critical project activities and design oversight from third party suppliers, contractors, and process licensors to meet the project objectives cost efficiently.
- Oversee the EPCM and other contractors to meet contract deliverables and activities.
- Work collaboratively with other contactors, team members, and suppliers to manage the interrelationship of complex interfaces and work to appropriate level of definition for each stage.
- Develop and implement best practices, methods, and tools for process engineering; build a culture of project design management excellence
- Interface with the major package engineers, be familiar with the cost and schedule risks as it impacts design. Work with them to find common solutions to issues.
- Interface as needed and represent the project and the company to stakeholders.
- Recognize and apply process engineering and design management through a project timeline and appropriateness for different phases requiring knowledge of project development and execution
- Be a leader in the engineering and the project management organization to build out a world class project development and execution organization.

- Mitigate risks and find solutions
- Oversee the process design including development and review of PFD, P&ID, Process Data Sheets, PSV Data Sheets, Instrument Data Sheets, Process Specifications. At times these deliverables will be generated by contractor but reviewed by owner’s team, at times these deliverables will be developed by the owner’s team.
- Develop and run process engineering models (HYSYS) as needed to support design
- Interface regularly with operations team and project engineers to incorporate lessons learned and operability into the design
- Participate in design reviews, including HAZOP’s and LOPA’s, take a leadership role in closing out any outstanding hazards
- Participate with other disciplines in delivering the overall design that will be safe, functional, and cost effective.
- Become familiar will all aspects of the project, but especially the design, execution plans, budget, and schedule.
- Be able to integrate corporate, technical, and commercial objectives to create a streamlined project deliverable.
- Make corrective actions to the project as needed to mitigate risk, issues, schedule, and budget
- Meet periodically with steering team members to align project with executives and commercial team
- Incorporate lessons learned from other projects into designs considering the phase of the project
- Support all assigned projects through design, construction, commissioning, and initial operations.
- Other duties as required
- An accredited degree in an appropriate Engineering Discipline, Chemical Engineering, or the ability to demonstrate equivalence through experience and other education to successfully perform the role.
- Two plus years of relevant experience in complex process projects involving bespoke design, technical designs in oil and gas, or other industrial processing facilities.
- Experience with operations technical support and process design in projects
- Experience with process modeling software (Aspen HYSYS Preferred but not required)
- Demonstrated experience in FEED/EPC design
- Experience with revamps and/or brownfield projects is essential in being successful in this role.
- Have a broad experience to integrate the various parts of a large project unit operations (boilers, steam generators, air compressors, piping, pumps, water treating, compressors, distillation, high temperature processes, heat exchangers, flare systems, PSV’s) will be very helpful in being successful in this role
- Working knowledge of managing projects in an owner’s team and integrating those experiences across different groups, including project management professionals and also those in commercial or design roles lacking direct project experience.
- Demonstrated experience of being able to work in large complex teams, and managing or leading EPC teams of engineers, project engineers, and construction execution team.
- Strong understanding of process safety and PSM
- Strong understanding of project stewardship, design management, and reporting for third parties
- A keen interest in learning, growing and implementing your learning into all aspects of your work
- The ability to work independently, but also communicate and involve others as needed
- This role is less about specific degrees or years of experience and more about direct relevant experiences. Candidates that can demonstrate that knowledge and experience will be more successful in this exciting opportunity. Knowing which areas need more oversite and which areas benefit from less owner oversight will help the candidate be more successful in this role.
