Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Package Engineer to support the design, procurement, and fabrication oversight of modular process equipment for a landmark Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) facility. This role will be central to managing the technical interface between internal engineering, EPCms, and third-party vendors responsible for designing and fabricating skids and modules. The ideal candidate brings practical experience with modular systems, strong project execution discipline, and the ability to lead package delivery through design, fabrication, FAT, and delivery to site, through to commissioning, startup, and early operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as project owner for assigned process and utility equipment packages, including heat exchangers, pumps, vessels, filters, instrumentation, and complete modular skids for systems needed for the completion of an eSAF facility.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to develop integrated modular designs aligned with project requirements.
  • Develop or review technical specifications, datasheets, and scope of work packages for skid/module vendors and engineering subcontractors.
  • Manage vendor and EPCm interfaces, ensuring alignment on design criteria, codes, standards, and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct design reviews, HAZOP participation, and ensure constructability and maintainability of skid/module designs.
  • Review and approve vendor documentation (P&IDs, GA drawings, structural layouts, ITPs, welding procedures, etc.).
  • Oversee fabrication activities, participate in inspections, and ensure compliance with QA/QC plans and applicable standards (ASME, API, IEC, etc.).
  • Coordinate and witness FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and manage punch-list resolution.
  • Work closely with supply chain, logistics, and site construction teams to ensure safe and efficient delivery, offloading, and installation readiness.
  • Ensure site integration, participate in commissioning and startup, and complete site acceptance testing (SAT) where applicable.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in equipment packaging or modular skid fabrication, ideally in the refining, petrochemical, or clean fuels industries.
  • Proven experience interfacing with EPC contractors and third-party fabricators.
  • Proven track record in delivering complete systems on time and on budget through rigorous project management and regular vendor interactions.
  • Deep understanding of modular design practices, pipe/pump/package engineering, instrumentation integration, and applicable design codes.
  • Familiarity with all relevant standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication documentation.
  • Strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions relating to the engineering, procurement, and fabrication of modular skids.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills with the ability to drive deliverables across a distributed team.
  • Willingness to travel for vendor visits, inspections, and FATs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SAF, renewable fuels, or chemical process plant development.
  • Background in commissioning or startup of modular systems.
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling tools (e.g., Navisworks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, SolidWorks).
  • Familiarity with PM/document control systems (e.g., Procore, Primavera, or equivalent).

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape a pioneering SAF project with real climate impact.
  • Fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a mission-driven team.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Exposure to a full project lifecycle from engineering through commercial operation.
