What you’ll do

Design and Develop Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) and Infravision Products:

  • Design and development of new and existing UAS, payloads, devices and sub-systems consisting of mechanical and electrical components.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to develop the functional requirements for new products.
  • Utilise CAD software and other engineering tools to develop 3D models, conduct simulations, and perform analyses to ensure robust, safe and functional products.
  • Utilise software programming to ensure safety and functional requirements are met.
  • Develop best practice maintenance, support and sustainment processes to allow product to be maintained and managed by our global teams.
  • Create and oversee the test and evaluation process ensuring they meet the highest performance and quality standards to deliver world leading products.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documentation, including engineering calculations, test methodologies, and validation procedures to provide a thorough understanding of the systems.
  • Collaborate with our global Operations team and customers for feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional Engineering team activities to innovate, integrate, modify new or existing products to meet Infravision goals.

Assembly and Manufacture:

  • Support the assembly of UAS products for production and ensure all quality control procedures are met.
  • Use in-house 3D printing and other outsourced manufacturing services for required components.
  • Work with the team to continuously improve quality, equipment and processes throughout the manufacturing cycle.
  • Efficiently manage and monitor inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment essential for aircraft and payload repairs and maintenance.

Technical Support:

  • Provide the operational team technical support with aircraft and payloads through on-site or on-call support, clear documentation for field operational troubleshooting, and engineered solutions.
  • Provide the sales and marketing team technical support through technical data sheets and key specifications relevant to the clientele.

Vendor and Supplier Engagement:

  • Conduct sourcing, selection, specification and integration with new and existing suppliers and vendors while maintaining a professional and long lasting relationship.

Testing and Evaluation:

  • Lead the technical and operational testing and evaluation process for new, improved or existing products and processes to build out the Infravision product ecosystem.
  • Lead the capture of field data and operator feedback to guide the product development requirements and improvements.

Repairs and Maintenance:

  • Support the primary maintainers with high level repairs and maintenance through communication with OEM’s and diagnosing and resolving technical issues, encompassing both hardware and software aspects, ensuring seamless functionality.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to maintain a high rate of serviceability to aircraft and payloads.

Project Management:

  • Manage the respective projects across Infravision’s UAS portfolio through close liaison with external vendors and Infravision’s business units.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Mechatronics, Electrical or Software Engineer or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics, aviation, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in developing robotic systems.
  • Knowledge of robotic or uncrewed aircraft systems, including hardware, software, and flight controllers.
  • Proficiency in CAD, 3D printing, electronic assembly and software programming.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and uncrewed aircraft operators.

Highly Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a Project Manager or similar responsibilities
  • Experience or qualification in traditional manned maintenance activities (technician, LAME etc)
  • Experience in working with Ardupilot, open source hardware and software stacks.
  • Experience in developing and building UAS payloads and integrating to UAS platforms.
  • Experience in working with Heavy Lift UAS.
  • Holds a current Part 107 pilot licence.
