The opportunity

Join a cutting-edge team transforming the way high voltage transmission lines are built. The TX system Operator is responsible for operating Infravision's state of the art smart tension puller used for pre-stringing operations. This role involves operating and overseeing the setup, and complete operation while onsite a commercial job or demonstration, ensuring efficient use of resources and safe execution of tasks. The TX system Operator will work closely with technical teams, field personnel, and other departments to ensure proper logistics, equipment functionality, and timely project delivery.

What you’ll do:

TX system Operation:

  • Operate and transport TX systems to various locations, ensuring all loading, unloading, and transportation is conducted safely and efficiently.
  • Set up TX systems at project sites, ensuring proper connection and integration with electrical systems, communication networks, or other relevant infrastructure.
  • Monitor the functionality of equipment housed within TX systems, ensuring all systems (such as power, cooling, or communication equipment) are operational before and during deployment.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of systems and associated systems, addressing any operational or safety issues as they arise.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate the logistics of TX system transport, setup, and deployment with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate with project managers, field operations teams, and other departments to ensure timely deployment and functionality of TX systems in support of ongoing projects.
  • Maintain clear communication with all relevant parties during deployment and operations and ensure updates on project status and any operational issues.
  • Track and coordinate system schedules, optimizing the use of resources for multiple projects or shifts.

Project Support and Setup:

  • Support the setup and configuration of TX systems for specific operational needs, such as providing power, shelter, or communication support on project sites.
  • Ensure systems are equipped with the necessary tools, supplies, and equipment for field operations, conducting inventory checks before and after each deployment.
  • Provide onsite coordination to ensure system equipment and systems are operational and meet project requirements.
  • Assist with any troubleshooting of equipment failures or operational issues related to TX systems.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections of TX systems, including all associated equipment, electrical components, and communication systems, to ensure proper functionality and prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues with TX system equipment, such as generators, batteries, and communication gear.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections, repairs, and any incidents involving TX systems or equipment.
  • Schedule and coordinate any necessary servicing or repairs with external contractors or technical teams to ensure minimal downtime.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all operations involving TX systems adhere to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Conduct safety checks on systems, equipment, and transport vehicles to prevent accidents or incidents during operation or deployment.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols, including proper handling of hazardous materials, safe driving practices, and emergency procedures in the event of system failures or accidents.
  • Participate in safety audits and contribute to ongoing improvements in safety practices for TX system operations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of system operations, including transport logs, setup details, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
  • Provide regular updates to management on system usage, system performance, and any equipment issues or project delays.
  • Document all communications with project teams, contractors, and other departments to ensure effective coordination and avoid miscommunication.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Work closely with project managers, field supervisors, and technical teams to ensure smooth operations during TX system deployments and ongoing projects.
  • Provide onsite coordination to ensure systems meet project requirements and troubleshoot any equipment or operational issues.
  • Act as a liaison between the field teams and technical support teams to resolve operational challenges quickly and efficiently.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of TX system operations, including transport logistics, equipment maintenance, and deployment procedures.
  • Recommend upgrades or modifications to system equipment or systems to enhance performance and reduce operational downtime.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on the latest equipment, technologies, and safety practices in TX system operation.

What we are looking for

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in equipment operation or maintenance is preferred.
  • Proven experience operating TX systems or similar equipment, including transport, setup, and deployment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, communication equipment, and mechanical systems commonly used in TX systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and address equipment failures or malfunctions.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, with the ability to operate large vehicles, systems, or heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in remote or challenging field environments.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to effectively work with multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, or on-call shifts, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, or related fields.
  • Experience with system-based equipment such as generators, communication systems, and power distribution units.
  • Previous experience in project coordination or field support, particularly in the construction, energy, or telecommunications sectors.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Basic mechanical or electrical troubleshooting skills.

Work Environment:

  • Field-based work with significant time spent traveling and operating systems in a variety of environments, including construction sites, remote areas, or urban locations.
  • On-call availability may be required for urgent project needs, including weekend or after-hours work.
  • Some work in potentially hazardous environments, requiring adherence to strict safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate and maneuver large vehicles and systems safely.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools, sometimes requiring lifting over 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
