The NA Staff Accountant is a key member of our growing North America (NA) accounting organization. You will form the foundation of our monthly accounting close and have a seat at the table as we scale our systems and processes. Reporting to the US, Accounting Manager, you are a self-starter with strong attention to detail, possess a process improvement mindset and are comfortable with ambiguity. What you’ll do
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all journal entries and reconciliations are completed timely
- Apply ASC 606 standards to our revenue streams, managing deferred revenue and complex contract terms
- Prepare monthly financial statements for management review
- Assist with the transition of our accounting function from an outsourcing to an in-sourcing model
- Assist with the implementation & testing of new accounting systems & with the development of a SOX framework
- Own Accounts Receivable (A/R) and assist with payroll as needed
- Assist in managing equity-based compensation accounting and cap table maintenance via platforms like Carta
- Monitor state nexus and ensure compliance with sales tax and franchise tax filings
- Prepare schedules and provide support for external audits
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and participate in special projects as needed

- Industry-seasoned: has already spent time supporting the electric power / cleantech industries
- Self-starter: willing to dig into new concepts, make recommendations with limited information, and be highly effective with minimal direction and supervision
- Systems thinker: a love for efficiency, ensuring that processes work well together to streamline commercial operations
- Focused: we are a small team with many competing priorities. To be effective in this role you need to be able to isolate where you can have the greatest impact and rigorously prioritize.
- Willingness to travel: we operate throughout the United States, Canada, India and Australia and employees are required to travel from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting
- 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a solid foundation in US GAAP and Series A/B startup experience is the "gold standard" for this role
- Demonstrated proficiency in financial reporting and accounting operations
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks while maintaining high attention to detail
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on accuracy
- Interest in leveraging new technologies and automation to drive efficiency
- Manufacturing & Project Accounting experience are a plus
