The opportunity

Do you enjoy building, testing, troubleshooting, and operating advanced hardware systems? Infravision is looking for an R&D Test Engineer I to support development and validation of next-generation aerial robotics and autonomous technologies for power grid modernization. This is an early-career role for someone who wants to get hands deep into real hardware — drones, electromechanical systems, and autonomous platforms — with mentorship from a senior engineering team. You won't be running trivial tests. You'll be helping validate technology that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world.

About Infravision

Infravision is transforming how the world builds and maintains power grids. With its proprietary aerial robotics system, the company enables utilities, contractors, and developers to expand transmission and distribution infrastructure faster, safer, with lower environmental and community impact, and at significantly reduced costs. Operating globally, Infravision is helping meet the urgent demand for reliable and resilient grid infrastructure.

Why work for Infravision

  • Build critical infrastructure at global scale. Join a team modernizing how power infrastructure is built—solving real-world constraints in speed, safety, and access across some of the most complex environments on Earth.
  • Work on technology that’s actually deployed. Our systems are used in live projects with leading utilities, contractors, and developers worldwide. This is applied engineering, not theory.
  • Competitive compensation and meaningful ownership. We offer a competitive salary, benefits, and equity participation so employees share directly in the value created as the company grows.
  • High-caliber, collaborative team. Work alongside engineers, operators, and builders in a fast-moving, hands-on environment that values clarity, trust, and getting things done.

What you’ll do

  • Support hardware and system-level test campaigns for aerial robotic systems and autonomous platforms.
  • Operate instrumentation, telemetry, and data acquisition (DAQ) systems across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Collect, process, and analyze engineering test data to support design decisions.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and root-cause investigations for hardware and system failures.
  • Support prototype integration, bench testing, and field testing at operational sites.
  • Collaborate daily with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers across multiple programs.
  • Travel to field locations domestically and internationally to support deployment and testing.

What we are looking for

  • Hands-on and curious: You'd rather build and test than theorize. You're comfortable working with hardware and figuring things out.
  • Technically sharp: You pick up new tools, systems, and concepts quickly, even outside your formal training.
  • Detail-oriented: You log data carefully, document findings clearly, and notice when something doesn't look right.
  • Self-starter: You don't wait to be told what to do next — you find where you can add value and dive in.
  • Collaborative: You work well across disciplines and take feedback constructively.
  • Field-ready: You are willing to travel domestically and internationally and thrive in operational environments.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Robotics, or related engineering field.
  • 2–4 years of engineering, robotics, UAV, or hardware test experience (internships and academic project work included).
  • Strong hands-on technical aptitude and comfort working with physical hardware.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data collection.
  • Scripting or programming ability in Python, MATLAB, or similar — able to write test scripts and process datasets independently.

Preferred:

  • Experience with UAV/drone systems, autonomous vehicles, or robotic platforms.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition hardware (National Instruments, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar).
  • Experience with power electronics or electromechanical systems.
  • Exposure to high-reliability or safety-critical hardware environments.
