Our team is led by seasoned energy executives and world-renowned technical thought leaders. We are looking for a fantastic Data Engineer to work with our team in Columbus, OH.
Candidate Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in datasets management, preferably in the oil and gas industry, or other sectors that compile databases from diverse data formats.
- Proficiency in Python, with additional proficiency in Java, C# preferred.
- Implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to integrate geological data from various internal and external sources into centralized data repositories from active lab research.
- Strong understanding of database concepts and approaches such as SQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Azure-based data engineering solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability and high attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong ArcGIS or other GIS software skills, including data analysis, mapping, presentation, and web-based applications (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise) is a nice-to-have.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science with studies in Geoscience (Bachelor's Degrees also considered).
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform large volumes of data from diverse sources.
- Develop and implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data from ongoing geoscience research
- Monitor data pipeline performance and health, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure uninterrupted data flow and availability.
- Co-developing APIs, geospatial web applications and dashboards for internal and external audiences with an emphasis on back-end development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, geologists, land personnel, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, evaluate and recommend new tools and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of data pipelines.
