We are looking for a fantastic Research Associate (Geology) to join our Columbus, Ohio team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Chemistry, Engineering or a related field
- 2-5 years’ of laboratory or field-based technical experience, including sample analysis
- Experience with quality assurance of data and trouble shooting
- Experience and or willing to learn to work with highly specialized lab equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory experience in a physical science field (e.g., geology, environmental engineering, chemistry)
- Experience handling environmental samples, including rocks, soils, waters, and gases
- Experience handling hazardous materials/samples
- Experience reading academic papers
- Strong administrative skills, willing to liaise with multiple people on site and in office
- Data management basics
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for organizing samples of drill cuttings, gas, and liquids as they arrive to the laboratory
- Able and willing to be trained on various instrumentation to perform analysis of drill cuttings, rock core, gas, and liquid in the laboratory
- Responsible for quality assurance and control of analytical instrumentation and affiliated equipment, including leak checking, analyzing standards and blanks, instrument troubleshooting, and other lab related upkeep and maintenance
- Able and willing to be trained on procedures to support data collection, raw data processing, interpretation, and report generation
- Supervise a team of interns by providing hands on training and feedback. Assigning tasks based on project needs
- Collaborate to ensure efficient workflow and data integrity
- Adaptability to support team with any project they are working on as it changes often

- This role reports to the Lab Manager in our Columbus, OH office
