Koloma is a cutting-edge hydrogen start up, backed by some of the top climate tech investors on the planet. We are developing technologies that will enable the production of low cost, reliable, carbon-free hydrogen. Our team is led by seasoned energy executives and world-renowned technical thought leaders. We are looking for a Senior Commercial Analyst to join us in our office in Denver, Colorado.

Candidate Requirements & Attributes

  • 6–10+ years of experience in commercial analysis, energy economics, project finance, operational finance, investment banking, or consulting
  • Expert-level economic modeling skills, including NAV models, full-cycle project economics, and scenario analysis
  • Strong project finance modeling experience, including debt/equity structures and financing waterfalls
  • Proven experience building and maintaining tax models and applying oil & gas fiscal regimes (royalty/tax, PSC, PSA, concession systems)
  • Hands-on experience owning joint venture planning, including WP&Bs, multi-year plans, and partner alignment
  • Proven experience with joint ventures, including JOAs, governance, committees, cash calls, ballots, and partner reporting
  • International experience working across multiple jurisdictions and fiscal systems
  • Experience preparing detailed, high-quality materials for executives, boards, investors, lenders, and JV partners
  • Experience supporting venture capital fundraising
  • Strong experience in energy, oil & gas, subsurface exploration, clean-tech, or other capital-intensive industries
  • Demonstrates senior-level ownership and judgment, operating with rigor, analytical depth, and strong attention to detail
  • Thrives in ambiguous, early-stage environments, exercising sound commercial judgment under uncertainty and risk
  • Communicates clearly and confidently across technical and commercial audiences, building trust through consistent follow-through
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

Job Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end joint venture commercial management, including annual and multi-year planning, Work Programs & Budgets (WP&Bs), economic justifications, application of Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), and day-to-day JV governance (committees, ballots, cash calls, approvals, and variance tracking)
  • Lead commercial and statutory compliance across domestic and international jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with applicable financial, operational, environmental, and project-based reporting requirements
  • Own and continuously enhance an integrated suite of economic, technoeconomic, project finance, and tax models supporting exploration, appraisal, early development, and investment decisions, incorporating jurisdiction-specific fiscal regimes, royalties, production sharing, incentives, and financing structures
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of model rigor, transparency, auditability, and defensibility across all analytical outputs
  • Lead business case development and investment decision support for executives, boards, and investment committees, including evaluation of capital efficiency, fiscal outcomes, financing options, downside scenarios, and portfolio tradeoffs
  • Provide clear, independent commercial recommendations grounded in quantitative analysis and disciplined economic reasoning
  • Play a key role in venture capital fundraising and strategic partnerships (Series A through C+), including ownership of financial, economic, and tax models, preparation of investor materials, and support of data room development and diligence processes
  • Partner closely with subsurface, engineering, technology, legal, finance, and tax teams across multiple geographies to translate complex technical, fiscal, and regulatory inputs into clear commercial implications
  • Support the development of commercial frameworks and partnership structures for international projects and contribute to long-term commercial strategy across a globally diversified portfolio
