About the role:
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations is responsible for working closely with Mine Maintenance, Engineering, Processing, and the other Mine Operations Supervisors to supervise and direct the crew’s daily activities while working to support the long-term goals of the operation. This position follows a 4x4 days and nights rotation.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities who will collaborate with and establish strong relationships across multi-disciplinary teams. This role requires versatility and ability to work with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced environment, characterized by change and ambiguity. Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills including the ability to empower, coach, and mentor others are vital.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Measure the performance of the operating crew in achieving operating targets and strengthen employee performance and accountability through coaching and feedback
  • Provide mentorship to supervisors
  • Communicate with other crew supervision, engineers, maintenance, processing, and human resources to coordinate mining activities in an efficient manner
  • Look for innovative ways to minimize cost and maximize production without impacting the commitment to safety
  • Perform other responsibilities as required and assigned

Requirements:

  • Ten years of mining experience, with five years of supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with autonomous haulage systems, specifically the Komatsu Frontrunner system, is a tremendous asset
  • Strong digital literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite® and solid understanding of a fleet dispatch system, specifically the Komatsu Frontrunner system
  • Analytical and adaptable with a strong interest in continuous improvement
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
