What are we looking for?
We are seeking a self-motivated Purchasing Officer to join our winning team. Reporting to the Purchasing and Contracts Superintendent, this role will see you work within a highly experienced team, that is extremely focused on achieving financial performance that supports operational requirements The position is permanent full time, working a Monday to Friday roster. We offer an attractive remuneration package including performance-based bonuses. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible candidates.
As a Purchasing Officer, you will be primarily responsible for the preparation and processing of purchase orders and documents in accordance with company policies and procedures with responsibilities such as:
Maintain a competitive purchasing system that meets operational needs using sound commercial principles in accordance with the GCAA Procure to Pay Policy.
Process purchase requisitions / orders within purchasing authority in accordance with the GCAA Procure to Pay Policy.
Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine procurement needs, quality, and delivery requirements.
Reconcile or resolve value discrepancies.
Maintain reliable sources of supply and adequate stock levels, particularly on strategic stocks (Diesel, Oils, G.E.T. etc.).
Conduct EOM on strategic stocks (diesel, tyres, flocculant, oils etc).
Communicate with transport companies to enable the timely delivery and receipt of all goods and to ensure any special or urgent requirements are accommodated consistent with group agreements and local needs, cost effectively.
Collaborating with team members to achieve (department) objectives.
Ensuring compliance with safety standards and contributing to a culture of safety.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Have a proven track record in the receival, handling and dispatch of items and equipment in the mining and/or industrial sector.
Relevant purchasing, warehousing and/or inventory management qualifications.
Working knowledge of all applicable laws, Regulations and Statutory obligations associated with this role.
A current Forklift Operating licence is highly desirable.
An advanced level of proficiency in MS Office and SAP (Materials Management) is essential.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
A commitment to safety and a proactive approach to risk management.
A willingness to work collaboratively within a team environment.
