The role will suit a hands-on Infrastructure team lead looking to grow his/her career by assuming overall responsibility of key Infrastructure artefacts. The hands-on aspect is important as well as experience in working to a DevOps operating model.
The role will initially report to the Head of Core IT Services and will play an essential part in ensuring that the current Infrastructure landscape is operating at the correct levels and the inflight projects are delivered in timely manner and suitably resourced.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and collaborator, have strong attention to detail and a pragmatic and “can-do” attitude. They will have experience in working with Agile technologies and will have good knowledge of scripting methodologies and techniques.
The ideal candidate disposes of:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high‑performing technical engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Serve as the subject‑matter expert for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, ensuring robust, secure, and reliable platform operations.
- Oversee and optimize VMware vSphere environments, including capacity planning, lifecycle management, and performance tuning.
- Manage and support enterprise‑grade storage platforms such as PureStorage, ensuring data availability, performance, and integrity.
- Design, maintain, and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters across hybrid environments.
- Work across both Azure cloud and on‑premises infrastructure, enabling seamless integration and operational consistency.
- Develop and maintain automation and orchestration workflows using PowerShell, Ansible, Git, and related DevOps tools.
- Ensure strong network reliability through solid understanding of firewalls, switching, routing, TCP/IP, WAN, and LAN technologies.
- Contribute to strategic technical planning, risk assessments, and roadmap development.
- Communicate complex technical issues and recommendations clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with leadership, customers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and service excellence.
- Adapt to and support organizational change, shifting priorities, and evolving business needs.
Skills:
- Expert-level Red Hat Linux administration skills.
- Expert-level VMware vSphere administration expertise.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise storage solutions, preferably PureStorage.
- Solid hands‑on experience with Kubernetes.
- Working knowledge of hybrid environments (Azure + on‑prem).
- Proficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languages.
- Experience with DevOps ecosystems including Ansible, Git, CI/CD practices.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals—firewalls, routing, switching, TCP/IP, WAN/LAN.
- Proven experience leading or managing a technical engineering team.
- Ability to think strategically, perform risk analysis, and contribute to architectural decisions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for all audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain strong working relationships across the organization.
- Comfortable adapting to change and managing shifting priorities.
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code deployments.
- Exposure to VMware Tanzu or Kubernetes platform services.
- Prior project management experience or certifications.
- Understanding of Windows Server technologies (2019/2022).
- General understanding of current and emerging Microsoft technologies.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
- Previous exposure to ITIL processes and service management frameworks.
