Purpose and objective

Understand the characteristics of Glencore's internal demand and understand the market dynamics of the local market, main suppliers and competitiveness of the industry, to proactively seek opportunities, create value through the negotiation of contracts for the supply of goods and services with better conditions than the existing ones and carry out the quotation/bidding processes and monitoring of the contract.

Technical background and skills

  • Degree in Civil, Industrial, Commercial or Industrial Civil Engineering or related career.
  • Intermediate management of analysis and communication tools such as Excel, Project, Power Point, Power BI, Word, Access.
  • Knowledge of business management systems: ERP (e.g. SAP, Ellipse,) and/or procurement software (Coupa, Ariba)
  • Intermediate English level
  • Ability to plan and conduct negotiations.
  • Ability to apply different strategies and identify opportunities for creating strategic alliances with suppliers, evaluate and recommend alternatives.
  • Position based in Santiago or Antofagasta

Experience

  • 5 or more years of experience in procurement management functions for goods and services mainly for medium to large mining production plants in Chile or Peru.
  • Knowledge in contract administration, control and cost analysis.
  • Knowledge of project control and budgeting and engineering.
  • Knowledge in spare parts management.
  • Experience managing an annual supply portfolio > USD 20 MM or medium-high complexity.

Responsabilities

1. Develop and manage the comprehensive sourcing analysis under its scope of responsibility, based on the Strategic Sourcing methodology. The analyses must be carried out in depth, having full knowledge of the internal demand (technical analysis, use and restrictions) and the supplier market. Understand the internal consumption behavior of the Category (Mine & Maintenance Mine) and make demand projections anticipating discontinuities.

2. Have full knowledge of the total cost of ownership of the assigned Category (Mine & Maintenance Mine), as well as understand the value chain of the supplier industry in LATAM.

3. Ensure updated market information, benchmarking, cost structure analysis, supplier analysis, analysis of other sources of supply, among others.

4. Identify opportunities for value addition or savings in their scope of operation and articulate an action plan, seeking to maximize regional synergies, identifying and validating savings levers with Sites, both internal and associated with the supplier's chain.

5. Support and challenge the user areas in defining demand, in terms of quantity, technical specifications and quality/level of service.

6. Participation in the processes of annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting of costs and delivery times to ensure compliance with the annual plan.

7. Involve users and customers in a timely manner in the survey of requirements of the Sites (specifications) in the generation of savings hypotheses, identifying and maintaining a fluid relationship with the Sites and user areas.

8. Ensure the correct execution of the supply strategy in the categories with excellence and according to the policies of Antapaccay and its parent company Glencore. Comply with the supply plan corresponding to the Category (Mine & Maintenance Mine) under their responsibility.

9. Monitor contractual compliance, analyzing the performance of current suppliers, according to compliance in quality, time and cost, making reports with SLAs and supplier performance.

10. Monitor the materialization of the benefits captured through hiring.

11. Provide effective and timely solutions to problems and specific needs of users within the agreed SLAs.

12. Timely identify supply risks and develop contingency plans ensuring the operational continuity of the sites

13. Participate as support and/or lead (when appropriate) negotiation, quotation/bidding and contract award processes, gathering information and generating relevant analyses that allow identifying opportunities for value addition.

14. Evaluate, compare and present recommendations for the award of contracts, involving the user areas when appropriate. Manage and facilitate the distribution and approval of Contractual documents.

15. Transfer knowledge and instruct the management teams of the Sites and user areas on contractual conditions

16. Generate reportability on the products/services managed.

17. Generate reports and presentations for kick-off meetings between supplier and user areas.

18. Perform contract management from a commercial point of view in all the processes and contracts that they are in charge of in the category (Mine & Maintenance Mine).

19. Permanently supervise and/or advise the activities carried out by their work team, verifying compliance with the rules, procedures, internal regulations, IPERC/AST for the control of risks and stop operations that represent risk until they are controlled.

20. Develop Visible Leadership according to the requirements of SAFEWORK.
