Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is a mining company whose registered office is at No. 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi District, Manika Commune, City of Kolwezi. Its operating headquarters, the center of its main activities, is located about 42 km from the city of Kolwezi in the province of Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

MUMI is recruiting a: "General Manager – Asset Protection”.

Main objectives of the position

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the General Manager, Asset Protection is responsible for the development and implementation of integrated security strategies that support safe, secure, and environmentally responsible mining operations. He/she is responsible for conducting safety, environmental and social risk assessments related to mine sites, tailing facilities, camps and transportation corridors.

Minimum qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in security management, criminology, law enforcement, risk management or related discipline.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in risk management, security studies or business administration (MBA).
  • Professional certification in safety or risk management (e.g., CPP, PSP, CSMP or equivalent).
  • Training in firearms control and incident command (where applicable and legally permitted).
  • Certification in crisis management and emergency response is preferred.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in the field of corporate or mining security, including strategic planning and crisis management.
  • Experience managing large multidisciplinary security teams (in-house and contracted).
  • Proven experience in community safety relations, intelligence gathering and law enforcement liaison.
  • Experience in high-risk or politically sensitive environments is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of mining regulations, environmental laws and ESG requirements.
  • Training or experience related to emergency response, crisis management and environmental incident management.

Required skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level.
  • In-depth understanding of physical, technical, and procedural security controls.
  • Knowledge of security technologies, surveillance systems and access control.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Fluency in English required; Fluency in French or local languages is an asset.
  • Strategic: Ability to design and implement long-term asset protection strategies.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage large security teams and service providers.
  • Operational: expertise in risk assessment, security audits and loss prevention.
  • Analytics: Strong decision-making and problem solving under pressure.
  • Ethics: High integrity, confidentiality and accountability in all actions.
  • Crisis Management: Emergency coordination and incident response skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the company's security and asset protection strategy to protect people, assets, and information.
  • Oversees the design, implementation and evaluation of physical and operational security systems.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, law enforcement and community stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate investigations of theft, fraud or security breaches.
  • Implement crisis management and emergency response plans, including evacuation and emergency protocols.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and ensure that mitigation measures are applied in all operations.
  • Manage security contractors and guards.
  • Ensure performance monitoring, compliance and discipline.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras, access control, alarms, drones and surveillance systems.
  • Ensure that systems are effective and environmentally friendly.
  • Liaise with local authorities, communities and environmental agencies.
  • Prevent conflicts and safety-sensitive approaches
  • Ensure compliance with mining, safety, environmental and HSE regulations.
  • Report incidents, audits and performance indicators.
  • Ensure budget planning and control of safety costs.
  • Acquire security services and equipment.
  • Support operational continuity and asset protection
  • Mitigate risks for disruptions in remote and sensitive environments.
  • Comply with Glencore's environmental management requirements and procedures as well as MUMI SARL's environmental policy.
