Murrin Murrin Operations has an opportunity for an experienced Training Superintendent to join our team onsite in Western Australia’s northern Goldfields.

Murrin Murrin Operations is a large-scale integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. As Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major global nickel producer, our operation plays a key role in supplying critical minerals to global markets.



Murrin Murrin Operations is wholly owned by Glencore, one of the world’s largest globally diversified natural resources companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 60 commodities. Glencore employs over 145,000 people and operates around 150 mining and processing sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities across more than 35 countries.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager – Human Resources, this role leads the site Training function and is responsible for strengthening workforce capability through effective training systems, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement of learning programs.

You will play a key role in ensuring the organisation’s training frameworks, competency systems and learning technologies support operational performance and workforce development.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading and developing the site Training team, ensuring high standards of delivery, capability and performance
  • Developing and implementing training strategies aligned with operational requirements and workforce capability planning
  • Overseeing the design, delivery and evaluation of training programs that support operational and technical capability
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory training requirements, site standards and competency frameworks
  • Driving continuous improvement across training processes, systems and learning frameworks.
  • Leading the optimisation, upgrade and implementation of Learning Management Systems (LMS) to improve training management, compliance and reporting
  • Managing training records, competency frameworks and reporting to support regulatory and operational requirements
  • Partnering with operational leaders to identify capability gaps and implement targeted development initiatives
  • Supporting workforce development initiatives including apprenticeships, traineeships and technical capability programs
  • Managing budgets, forecasting and resource planning for training and workforce development activities

About You
This role will suit an experienced training leader with strong operational understanding, system capability and a passion for developing workforce capability within a complex industrial environment.

You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced operational setting while driving improvements in training systems, processes and compliance frameworks.

You will also have:
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Preferably tertiary qualifications in Training, Education, Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in training and workforce development, ideally within mining, resources or heavy industry
  • Demonstrated experience leading training teams and capability development initiatives
  • Proven experience optimising, upgrading or implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Strong knowledge of competency frameworks, regulatory training requirements and adult learning principles
  • Experience working within complex operational or metallurgical plant environments.
  • Strong capability in training reporting, compliance management and workforce capability analysis
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels of the organisation
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel and standard business systems
  • WA ‘C’ Class Driver's Licence
