About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, Processing Improvement, the Senior Engineer Supervisor, Processing supports the coordination of coal beneficiation operations to optimize product yield, quality, and productivity in alignment with site targets, the Processing Charter, and the Quality Management Framework.
You will provide technical support to processing teams, including measurement and reporting systems, and act as a key liaison between processing operations and internal stakeholders including mining quality control, geology, technical marketing, and logistics teams.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate and facilitate across multiple levels of management and external stakeholders. You bring strong planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities, high computer literacy, and the ability to work independently in high-pressure environments with competing priorities. You demonstrate integrity, accountability, sound judgment, and a strong drive for performance while building positive working relationships and supporting the development of others.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Provide technical support to processing operations to achieve throughput, yield, and coal quality targets
  • Monitor plant performance, analyze variances, and report measurement data for production reconciliation
  • Coordinate plant audit sampling and support quality control processes
  • Support scheduling and coal blending strategies to optimize product recovery and processing asset utilization
  • Develop and improve systems for capturing and analyzing operational and logistics data
  • Identify and initiate plant improvement opportunities, including consumable usage reduction
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment meets processing specifications
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders including operations, mining quality control, geology, marketing, and logistics to support production and product movement
  • Communicate improvement initiatives, projects, and operational insights within the Processing Management team
  • Support operational budgeting through effective resource management and cost monitoring
  • Provide input into key technical aspects of Group EVR contracts

Requirements:

  • Degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Minimum ten years process operations and/or process engineer experience, 5 years in coal is an advantage
  • Experience in coal quality control
  • Experience in process scheduling (desirable)
  • Eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC)
  • High computer literacy
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite®: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
