In this role you will be responsible for:
- Assisting with the coordination and execution of construction, civil, structural and infrastructure projects from initiation to completion;
- Supporting project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring activities;
- Coordinating daily project activities with contractors, operations, maintenance and engineering departments;
- Assisting in tracking project milestones, deliverables and resource requirements;
- Ensuring project work is executed according to approved scopes of work, drawings and specifications;
- Monitoring project progress and report deviations, delays and risks to the Senior Projects Coordinator;
- Conducting routine site inspections to monitor project progress, quality and compliance;
- Assisting in identifying and resolving site-related challenges and constraints;
- Ensuring proper housekeeping and site organization throughout project execution;
- Verifying that work performed aligns with engineering standards and project requirements;
- Coordinating site access, permits and logistical requirements where required;
- Liaising with contractors, suppliers and internal departments to support project execution;
- Attending project meetings and record actions, progress and follow-up requirements;
- Supporting contractor performance monitoring and compliance evaluations;
- Facilitating communication between project stakeholders to ensure alignment of project objectives;
- Assisting with monitoring project expenditure against approved budgets;
- Verifying contractor progress reports and completed work for review by the Senior Projects Coordinator;
- Maintaining accurate project documentation, records, drawings and correspondence;
- Supporting procurement activities, material tracking and delivery coordination;
- Preparing progress reports, meeting minutes and project status updates;
- Assisting with quality inspections and verification of completed work;
- Ensuring project activities comply with applicable quality standards and specifications;
- Supporting testing, commissioning and handover activities;
- Promoting and comply with all company health, safety and environmental requirements;
- Participating in risk assessments, toolbox talks and safety inspections; and
- Monitoring contractor compliance with site safety requirements and permit systems.
About you:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate;
- National Diploma or Degree in one of the following fields:
Civil Engineering; Construction Management; Project Management: Building Science; Structural Engineering; Quantity Surveying; Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering related technical field.
- Minimum 2–5 years' experience in project coordination, construction, maintenance or project execution environment;
- Experience within industrial, mining, smelter, manufacturing or heavy engineering environments will be advantageous;
- Exposure to contractor supervision and project administration;
- Knowledge of SAP4Hana, MS Projects or similar project management systems;
- Valid driver's license;
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook and MS Projects);
- Proficient in English written language;
- Medically fit in terms of OHSAct; and
- Knowledge of HSEC Systems.
