About the Role:
In this position, you will work under the direction of our scientists to assist in the successful execution of the Loam Bio R&D program. Specifically, the RA will be assisting in experiments in formulation (e.g. milling, blending, liquid processing) for our research, development, and product launches. Those products are microbial formulations that are ready for the farmers to use that put carbon in the ground in large amounts and for a long time. The research associate will work closely with internal and external lab-based research teams in protocol and compliance implementation, maintenance of relevant data/ equipment, and documentation. This is a full time position, 40h/ week in person.
The Research Associate will be expect to:
- Assist in formulation experimental work.
- Maintaining good lab notebook practices.
- Successfully execute simple formulations alone.
- Lift 50lb from the floor to a bench top
- Communication effectively with the lead scientist.
Location:
The role will be working out of our laboratories at University Enterprise Laboratories, 1000 Westgate Drive, Saint Paul, MN 55114.
About You:
- Completed Bachelor's in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines. Advanced degrees preferred.
- Microbial laboratory skills (sterile technique, record keeping, adherence to protocols, etc.)
- Experience working in team settings and/or collaborating to deliver high quality joint outcomes.
- Strong time management and progress reporting ability
- Accuracy and completeness of documentation per protocol expectations
- Ability to network and collaborate through in person and remote interactions (email, chats, phone, video conference etc)
- Experience in microbial formulations for agriculture preferred.
- If applying for a higher position level, the successful applicant will have a additional abilities to work independently on
- Exploration, proof of concept, and development of novel formulation and delivery system technologies and concepts for new and registered active ingredients.
- Collaboration with other functions across the company to deliver maximum success, including the prioritisation of projects according to deliverables.
- Provide formulation training for others as necessary
- Collaborate with external companies or universities to evaluate novel and promising technologies for Ag applications.
- Stay abreast of new discoveries and technologies in the area of formulation and delivery system technologies.
