About the Role

The Finance Associate plays a vital role in supporting Loam's financial operations, contributing to the organization's mission by ensuring efficient financial management and accurate reporting. This role provides critical support to the finance team in Australia (80%) along with US & Canada (20% of the focus), enabling informed decision-making and sustainable growth.

This role directly supports Loam's mission by ensuring the financial health and stability necessary to scale our operations and impact. By maintaining accurate financial records, managing financial processes efficiently, and providing insightful financial analysis, the Finance Associate enables Loam to invest in research, development, and farmer partnerships. This financial stewardship contributes to the development and deployment of scalable microbial solutions that enhance soil health, boost productivity, and ultimately, sequester carbon at gigatonne-scale. The effective management of Loam's financial resources allows us to empower farmers with the game-changing technologies they need to lead the global transformation of agriculture and build a more sustainable future.

Role Details

  • Manager: Senior Accountant
  • Status: Full Time - Permanent

Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for managing accounts payable and receivable on a day-to-day basis.
  • Process and verify purchase orders and maintaining up-to-date schedule of POs enabling timely processing of supplier invoices and payments.
  • Analysing and reconciling bank statements and corporate & credit card transactions on a daily basis for up-to-date cash management and accurate financial records.
  • Managing Finance Inbox ensuring required communication with internal and external stakeholders. Acting as a liaison for Vendors and Customers to answer queries and provide required support. Escalating any issues as may be required with the seniors in the team.
  • Assisting with the month-end close including preparation of working papers, creating and posting monthly journal entries.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analyses to support informed decision-making.
  • Assisting with the annual audit process to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting.
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy, including the ongoing ERP implementation covering four (4) countries.
  • Assisting with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
  • Providing administrative support to the finance team.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of post qualification experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Hands-on experience working with general ledgers.
  • Must have proficiency in ERP Systems (NetSuite preferred), Xero, Google Sheets / MS Excel.
  • Prefer to have familiarity with other softwares including, Expense management systems (we use Airwallex), Payroll system (Employment Hero) and ApprovalMax.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
