About The Role

Magrathea is seeking a innovative and methodical Research Scientist to contribute to the company's technology development and improvement program. Our innovative talent is one of the biggest drivers in our success, and talented people don’t always fit with rigid job descriptions or day-to-day responsibilities. However, we want to be transparent about what will be expected of this role. The Research Scientist will be a key player in the scale-up and design of our revolutionary electrolytic process technology.

Role Expectations

  • Own design of experiments for brine and molten salt systems to discover better and more efficient processing techniques
  • Execute experiments efficiently with strong project planning skills
  • Develop new analytical methods where necessary
  • Produce research reports for government grant requirements and internal company purposes
  • Read research reports and become a resident expert in the fundamentals of magnesium production technology

Ideal Background

  • BS, MS, or PhD in chemistry, chemical engineering or adjacent field
  • Experience with inorganic chemistry
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, titrations, TGA, dissolved organic measurements, calibrations, and other aqueous analytical
  • Creative and open-minded with the ability to rapidly learn
  • Demonstrated track record of working on a team to achieve audacious goals together
  • History of promoting company culture based on humility, transparency, respect, and care for the success of other team members

Compensation

  • Salary range: $90-$130k annually (commensurate with experience) Competitive stock option package Health insurance 401k with pre- and post-tax investing options
