About The Role

As the Director of Operations, you will lead our manufacturing operations, delivering carbon neutral light metal made from seawater to our customers. You will oversee all aspects of our production operations team, including building up a world-class facilities, maintenance, and EH&S program at Magrathea. Our Director of Operations will be one of the most critical leaders in the entire company for ensuring we can execute on our ambitious timelines with high capital efficiency. She or he will be given the opportunity of a lifetime to deliver real product that solves real environmental and national security problems.

Role Expectations

  • Build asset care and maintenance processes, ensuring process performance and reliability, including initiating and managing minor CAPEX and revenue engineering projects to provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations.
  • Develop and implement operational excellence; environment, health and safety; and facilities policies and procedures for the efficient operation of our facilities.
  • Develop and define clear scopes of work for outsourced contractors, ensuring all external work meets our standards and contributes to our operational goals.
  • Lead a team of R&D technicians and operators who are responsible for operating, monitoring, and improving Magrathea’s existing pilot, maintaining collaboration with the Director of Engineering and Director of Technology to achieve our technology goals.
  • Plan and oversee facilities as needed to accommodate growth; including coordinating and overseeing maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of equipment and infrastructure and leading procurement.

Ideal Background

  • Minimum 5 years practical experience in a similar manufacturing or industrial role, either in large-scale or start-up production.
  • Strong knowledge of facility operations, maintenance best practices, and safety regulations in California.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: University degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $120-$170k annually (commensurate with experience)
