About The Role

Magrathea is seeking a hands on detail-oriented R&D Technician to help run and optimize our revolutionary electrolytic process technology. Our innovative talent is one of the biggest drivers in our success, and talented people don’t always fit with rigid job descriptions or day-to-day responsibilities. However, we want to be transparent about what will be expected of this role. The R&D Technician will be a key player in the scale-up and design of our revolutionary electrolytic process technology.

Role Expectations

  • Hands-on ability to run and optimize bench and pilot chemical and metal processing equipment under the direction of team engineers and scientists.
  • Ideally has hands-on wet lab experience, with experience measuring liquids and solids using pipettes, analytical scales, and following analytical SOPs
  • Be diligent in note-taking, with the ability to effectively communicate results to other team members both verbally and through written reports. Prepare feedstocks, product materials and collect samples for further processing and testing according to SOPs.
  • Perform mechanical and instrument maintenance activities, both in a pilot research facility and in a lab.
  • Able to work independently from SOPs and Work Instructions
  • Able to identify issues, solutions and process improvements and effectively communicate suggestions and benefits to team members.
  • Knows basic laboratory safety and chemical handling
  • Maintain a clean pilot room environment and adhere to safety standards
  • Position will require the ability to move equipment and reagents that weigh greater than 30 lbs.

  • Experience in plant operations, for instance as an operator or technician
  • Attentive, with care for operations reliability and maintenance
  • Creative and open-minded with the ability to rapidly learn
  • Demonstrated track record of working on a team to achieve audacious goals together
  • History of promoting company culture based on humility, transparency, respect, and care for the success of other team members

Compensation

  • Salary range: $70-$90k annually (commensurate with experience)
