About The Role

Magrathea is seeking a dedicated and decisive Staff Mechanical Engineer to support the scale-up of our technology to commercial scale. Our innovative talent is one of the biggest drivers in our success, and talented people don’t always fit with rigid job descriptions or day-to-day responsibilities. However, we want to be transparent about what will be expected of this role. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will be a key player in the scale-up and design of our revolutionary electrolytic process technology.

Role Expectations

  • Lead Magrathea’s mechanical engineering program for scale-up to commercial-scale demonstration plant
  • Manage Magrathea’s design documentation including CAD and other digital twins required for electrical, piping, and structural elements of our demonstration plant
  • Develop and promote Magrathea's knowledge and insights into mechanical design and fabrication of mechanical systems for chemical process technology
  • Develop cost optimized designs for mechanical equipment supporting chemical process technology scale-up and deliver physical constructed versions of those designs
  • Optimize mechanical design, fabrication, and operation of core process technology like brine handling systems, thermal processes, electrolysis systems, and foundry tools

Ideal Background

  • BS, MS, or PhD in mechanical, industrial, or related engineering
  • Over 5 years of experience operating successfully in an industrial setting
  • Strong competence in thermal process technology and the ability to rapidly and safely prototype complex and hazardous equipment
  • Preferred skills in molten salt, minerals, and/or electrolysis
  • Creative and open-minded with the ability to rapidly learn
  • Demonstrated track record of working on a team to achieve audacious goals together
  • History of promoting company culture based on humility, transparency, respect, and care for the success of other team members

Compensation

  • Salary range: $160-$220k annually (commensurate with experience)
