Description

Reporting to the Process Team Lead, the candidate will work across both the Engineering and Maintenance groups supporting the operations of Mangrove’s first commercial production facility. At this first-of-a-kind facility, the candidate will be challenged to present creative solutions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical expertise and design for process modifications
  • Define and implement inspection and preventative maintenance program requirements for mechanical equipment
  • Exemplify and uphold a high standard of safety in design and execution of projects
  • Lead failure analysis studies and provide solutions for remediation and prevention of recurrence
  • Design and draft mechanical installations in adherence with existing standards and local regulations. This would include layouts, isometrics, site instructions that can be implemented effectively by our Maintenance team or third-party contractors
  • Lead the implementation and installation of complex mechanical installations in an industrial chemical processing facility
  • Collaborate with other departments to take advantage of learnings from other groups and extend insights from the Delta plant to other Mangrove projects and facilities

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; registered with EGBC as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.)
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in an industrial chemical or manufacturing environment
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, motors, valves, piping, tanks), their principles of operation and maintenance, as well as their associated conventions, codes and standards
  • Proficient user of both 2D and 3D CAD software, with proven success in designing prototypes, industrial installations and layouts, isometrics, etc.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate with contractors, including communication of effective site instructions
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and passionate about learning.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analysis, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact with a wide range of scientists, technicians and engineers.
