About the Role

As Lead Implementation Engineer at Mangrove, you’ll be both a hands-on practitioner and a force multiplier for the Customer Delivery team. You’ll own complex customer deployments from end to end—embedding deeply with customers, configuring Mangrove’s platform to their unique systems, and driving successful go-lives across diverse carbon value streams. At the same time, you’ll mentor and coach the implementation engineers around you, raising the bar for technical craft, delivery consistency, and domain expertise across the team.
This is a coach-and-player role at the intersection of decarbonization, data, engineering and product. You’re equally comfortable debugging a data pipeline in a customer’s environment and running a structured debrief that helps a more junior colleague grow. You set the standard for what great implementation looks like—and you make everyone around you better.

Responsibilities

Customer Delivery
Lead Onboarding & Deployment: Own end-to-end onboarding for strategic customers—spanning discovery, data integration, platform configuration, and go-live.
Adapt implementation frameworks across voluntary and compliance markets and diverse project types (fuels, CDR, and beyond).
Deep Technical Integration: Design and execute implementations that connect customer systems, sensors, and data pipelines into Mangrove’s platform, leveraging APIs, databases, and workflow automation.
Pathway Expertise: Develop deep understanding of carbon accounting nuances across multiple fuels and CDR pathways to tailor onboarding solutions that meet pathway-specific data and reporting requirements.
Trusted Technical Advisor: Serve as the bridge between customer, product, and engineering—educating customers on best practices in MRV, data management, and market reporting while advocating for their needs internally.
Forward-Deployed Execution: Operate as an extension of the product and engineering teams in the field—rapidly prototyping, troubleshooting, and refining platform configurations in live customer environments.
Implementation Project Management: Develop project plans and ensure delivery milestones are met, managing dependencies, risks, and timelines with precision.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
Coach & Develop: Serve as a technical mentor and day-to-day coach for implementation engineers on the Customer Delivery team—pairing on complex deployments, reviewing their work, and providing structured feedback that accelerates their growth.
Raise the Bar: Develop and refine implementation playbooks, onboarding frameworks, and delivery standards that elevate the consistency and quality of the team’s work.
Knowledge Transfer: Translate deep domain and technical expertise—carbon accounting nuances, integration patterns, platform configuration—into reusable documentation and training materials the team can leverage.
Cross-Team Influence: Partner with product managers and engineers to shape the product roadmap through real-world insights from deployments, and help junior engineers participate meaningfully in those conversations.
Continuous Improvement: Gather customer feedback post-implementation and lead retrospectives that improve both onboarding outcomes and team capability over time.

Qualifications & Experience

Successful candidates are likely to have the following qualifications and experiences. We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all of the items below.
5+ years in a forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or technical implementation role, ideally in enterprise software, energy, or data-heavy industries.
A track record of mentoring or leveling up more junior engineers—whether through formal coaching, pairing, playbook development, or leading team retrospectives.
Proven success leading complex, multi-stakeholder technical implementations from discovery to launch.
Strong familiarity with data systems (cloud platforms, APIs, databases, data pipelines) and scripting in SQL or Python.
Experience working directly with engineering teams and translating customer needs into clear technical requirements.
Domain familiarity with carbon markets, MRV systems, or project development strongly preferred.
Exceptional customer engagement and communication skills—able to interface equally effectively with technical teams and executive stakeholders.
