Mantel is looking for an I&C Commissioning Engineer excited to join a promising carbon capture startup working on the development of molten salts as a novel CO2 sorbent material. In this role, you will provide knowledge, expertise, input, training, and support for facility commissioning and startup. You will participate in work planning and packaging, turnover coordination, material management and quantities, quality control, and environmental safety and health. You will be an essential resource for specialized technical advice.
The I&C Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for Mantel’s control system design and implementation including the design, commissioning, and operation of Mantel’s First of a Kind demonstration system. The position will collaborate with EPCs, partner site engineers, and OEMs to develop scopes of work, operating procedures, and to commission all equipment. The I&C Commissioning Engineer will also be responsible for all I&C commissioning and modifications during operating campaigns. Mantel is looking for a problem solver who can think outside the box and work well both independently and within a team environment.
Significant travel is required. Option to live/work remote, with significant periods of time onsite in Trois Rivieres, Quebec.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage I&C scope during commissioning and start up (CSU) activities for the project
Provides I&C knowledge and expertise for CSU including instrumentation setup & calibrations, PLC and DCS Configurations & loop checks, cause and effects testing, FAT and SIFT testing, meter and relay testing, process operations support, HVAC systems, and complex analytical instrumentation.
Develop instrument check sheets, transition plans, TCCC documents, and develop standard work process procedures. Review and approve completed test records, data sheets, and procedures etc. to fully document testing activities, including subcontractors and technical advisors.
Prepare work scopes for RFP and bid documents
Contractor selection and management
Minimum Qualifications:
· Experience with application, programming, deployment, troubleshooting, and support of PLC/DCS systems
· Must have Emerson Delta V experience
· Experience in developing I&C documentation from scratch including controls narratives, cause & effect matrices, interlock matrices, and operating/troubleshooting procedures
· Experience in applying industry standards, customer and partner requirements, and government regulation compliance
· Hands-on experience in construction and commissioning industrial process equipment including loop checks, interlock testing, tuning, and troubleshooting
Desired Qualifications:
· Experience with instrumentation for high temperature/molten salt/metals/fluids
· Experience with safety critical applications
· Experience with or exposure to electrical system integration/scope definition
* Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial instrumentation and control
