Company Overview

Each year, 2.5 trillion hours are spent on household chores. At Matic, we’re on a mission to recapture that lost time, and we’re doing it by revolutionizing home robotics.

Our first product, also called Matic, is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. We've built what amounts to "full self-driving in the home” with real-time 3D mapping, adaptive path-tracking, and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes, using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device.

Privacy First

What happens in the home, stays in the home. Our robots are private by design, with all data processing performed by the robot itself, not in the cloud.

Our Approach

Before the iPhone, consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones, PDAs, and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics, starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time.

Our Culture

Matic is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We're ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems that save precious time and energy.

About the role

We’re looking for a driven, multi-talented Hardware Technician to join our HW design and engineering team in Mountain View, CA. This role is extremely hands-on, providing an opportunity to work on our robots holistically and learn about both mechanical and electrical aspects of hardware.

What You’ll Do:

  • Organize and prioritize tasks from members of the ME, EE, and Production teams that will directly contribute to the evolution of our robots

  • Operate and maintain 3D printers, laser cutters, and other rapid prototyping equipment

  • Create and assemble fixtures for robot production and testing

  • Run validation testing on new hardware components

  • Perform root cause analysis to solve real problems faced by customers

  • Take ownership over your work and design projects that optimize workflow for both you and your team

  • Understand the “why” behind every hardware design choice and learn about each component of the robot

  • Communicate and document test results and data in a clear and concise way

What We Look For:

  • Commitment to taking every opportunity to learn and develop engineering skills through hands-on experience

  • Making experience (DIY projects, makerspace experience, etc.)

  • Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks preferred)

  • Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware issues on machines such as 3D printers (Bambu, Formlabs, and Prusa preferred)

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines for multiple different projects simultaneously

  • Strong prioritization skills

  • Willingness to take initiative and recognize areas of potential improvement without being asked

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Comfort with ambiguity and a high-ownership mindset

  • Passion for doing work that has a real impact on our final product

We’d Love to Hear From You If...

  • You are genuinely motivated to help those around you

  • You are passionate about learning outside of your normal comfort zones

  • You love diagnosing complex technical issues

  • You are excited to do great work
