The Opportunity

Matter. is a Venture Capital backed CleanTech scale-up and has an opportunity for a Chief Commercial Officer to take ownership of commercial performance by working closely with all business unit leaders to create one version of the truth and support them on the path to accountability on revenue, quality and delivery targets.

This new role is pivotal in the development and execution of Matters strategic milestones and exists to deliver the commercial plan of growing our business through converting B2B contracts with multibillion customers, strategic partnering and innovative engineering.

You will be responsible for functional oversight and design the commercial strategy to meet our objectives. By building, managing and coaching a highly talented multi-disciplinary commercial team, and working collaboratively across the business, you will lead Matter through a phase of international expansion.

Above all, you must be driven to improve the state of the environment and address the challenge of sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• You will be leading and scaling our Commercial department, which includes includes Sales, Market intelligence, Marketing, PR, Brand management and Trademark management
• You will be overseeing contract negotiations in each Business unit respectively
• You will be instrumental in setting the Commercial and support the Technology strategies for all four Business Units
• You will be leading the business through a phase of international expansion
• You will design and roll out tools, processes and KPIs to support the efficient running of the department
• You will generate and qualify new leads and using different approaches to engage prospective accounts
• You will build a high-performing sales team to execute end-to-end sales including outreach, pitching, getting alignment, negotiation, closing deals and implementation to achieve revenue and profit targets
• You will monitor market trends and provide regular competitor analysis
• You will design a robust after-sales process to deliver strong customer engagement
• You will build strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• You will work with the rest of the C-suite to drive the business through the next phase of growth
• You will be leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team

You will have full autonomy, working closely with all business units to deliver solutions that ensure ongoing growth, development and success. As part of this journey, you will be responsible for launching our new Gulp product and work with our manufacturing partner to deliver a world-class product that will make a positive impact on the environment.

Alongside product launches, your commercial success for Matter. Inside will support our laundry appliance manufacturer customers sustainability goals, whilst also helping to scale our technology for Matter. Industries partners.

Your creative go-to-market strategy will also develop Matter. Materials ability to monetize ingenious ways of recycling microfibres and achieve full circularity.

• You have a proven track record of scaling up businesses and teams
• You have proven track record of converting B2B contracts with multibillion customers
• You have a proven commercial background in a product / technology business
• You have the ability to lead and inspire teams
• You have knowledge of product lifecycle
• You are able to hold a technical conversation with engineers
• You are commercially minded.
• You are a mission driven individual, who cares deeply about people and planet
• An engineering, project management or procurement degree / qualification
