Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

Role Description:
As our first Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic direction and growth of the company. You will work with leaders across both Business and Finance to support key decision-making by analyzing data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights. You'll help us make data-driven decisions by analyzing market trends, conducting background research, and supporting critical pitches. This role offers significant exposure to senior executives and an opportunity to work across various business functions, making it ideal for someone relatively early in their career who wants to make the move into an operating role at one of the leading climate tech companies, and who is detail-oriented, strategic, and thrives in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis & Insights:
    • Collect and analyze internal and external data to support strategic decision-making.
    • Help build financial and operational models to forecast growth, revenue potential, and other business KPIs.
    • Identify trends, correlations, and insights that help shape business strategies and operational improvements.
  • Strategic Support for Leadership:
    • Help build the infrastructure for our growing Business team as we expand revenue opportunities beyond D2C efforts, collaborating with senior leaders to analyze business performance and identify growth opportunities.
    • Prepare business case justifications for new projects, presenting data and projections that will be used to inform critical decisions.
  • Market Research & Competitive Intelligence:
    • Conduct deep dives into industry trends and market developments, offering intelligence that can shape the company's positioning and direction.
    • Evaluate potential markets for expansion by analyzing customer behavior, market needs, and complimentary businesses.
  • Supporting Business Pitches and Related Efforts:
    • Work closely with all levels of the team to develop pitch decks, presentations, financial models, and analyses for both internal and external meetings.
    • Help craft compelling narratives by combining data insights with market research to ensure investors and stakeholders understand the company’s growth trajectory.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead or support special projects, ensuring that they are executed on time and deliver value to the company.
    • Coordinate cross-departmental efforts, manage timelines, and ensure that resources are allocated effectively for high-impact projects.

Who You Are:

  • 2-4 years of experience in a high-performance environment such as management consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or a fast-growing startup.
  • Strong financial modeling, data analysis and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to synthesize complex information into clear, concise presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • A proactive and resourceful attitude, able to thrive in ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • A passion for sustainability, technology, and the mission of addressing climate change.
