About the role

Muon seeks an Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our Hardware team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated engineer who is eager to learn new skills and take on designs in both our Avionics and instrument electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the team that designs & delivers Muon’s satellite bus and the electrical designs for our in-house instruments.

  • Design, fabricate, bring up, and support our satellite flight PCBs which encompass flight computers, power systems, guidance & navigation, sensors & actuators, optical and RF instruments, and radio communications.

  • Do schematic capture and PCB layout for your own designs

  • Collaborate with SW team members on the design and bring up new hardware

  • Make early hardware prototypes to prove approaches and pay down risk

  • Develop elegantly engineered reusable subsystems for long term use in multiple configurations and missions.

  • Take designs from concept to production, and launch your work in to space

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field

  • Practical, hands-on experience with hardware design and test

  • Familiarity with microcontroller I/O and communication buses (UART/SPI/I2C/CAN/Ethernet)

  • Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to build upon them when designing

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Embedded software programming experience, such as Arduino, native C/C++ programming, or other environments

  • Process and test automation using scripting languages and software infrastructure

  • Accomplished at schematic capture and layout using Altium or other an electronics design suite (e.g. Cadence/Orcad, KiCAD, etc)

At Muon Space salary is only part of our total compensation package. In addition to salary, Muon Space provides equity compensation as well as benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k retirement plan, life insurance, and an employee development program.

The salary range for this role is $75K and $125k and will depend on a candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. protected person as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
