Imagine having the power to stress-test an entire power grid against a hurricane or thunderstorm before the clouds even gather. That is the reality we are creating at Neara.
We use advanced machine learning to create engineering-grade, physics enabled digital twins of electricity grids across four continents, this helps asset owners understand their biggest challenges and bring the most viable solutions to life across millions of kilometres of infrastructure.
By simulating extreme weather and structural stress at a network-wide scale, we empower the world’s largest utilities to pinpoint risks, optimise investments and build a more resilient global energy future.
Our team is a collection of brilliant minds who are fanatical about making a tangible difference in the real world, utilising AI and machine learning to accelerate everything from data classification to complex scenario analysis. We have built a special culture where innovation thrives because everyone owns the mission and we need smart, creative people to help us scale this impact to every corner of the globe.
Neara is a fast-growing technology company and our IT infrastructure needs to keep pace. We're looking for an IT Manager who can take full ownership of how our workplace systems run - from the physical setup in our office to the licensed software tools our teams depend on every day. This is an individual contributor role with broad scope and real ownership.
You'll work closely with teams across the business and have a direct impact on how Neara operates day-to-day across all of our offices.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Office IT
Manage all physical IT infrastructure — cabling, WiFi, laptops, video meeting technology, peripherals and printers
Respond to support requests and resolve issues promptly
Proactively get ahead of problems before they affect the team
Purchasing & vendor management
Evaluate hardware and software purchasing and negotiate with vendors
Manage purchases and maintain accurate records of all subscriptions, vendors, and billing methods
Ensure no gaps in coverage and no surprise renewals
Onboarding & off boarding
Own the IT side of bringing people into Neara and transitioning them out
Manage accounts, devices, access provisioning, and license allocation
Make day one seamless for new starters and ensure offboarding is thorough and secure
Core systems setup & maintenance
Own domains, email, Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Own and maintain processes to ensure that incoming IT requests and proactive projects are tracked and effectively managed
Manage our mobile device management environment end-to-end
Handle onboarding, off boarding, policy management, and ongoing improvements
Evaluate and onboard new providers when needed
Tech stack coordination
Ensure our tools work cohesively and support the business as we scale
Compliance — SOC 2 & ISO
Support IT compliance across all Neara offices globally
Own the relevant IT controls, keep documentation current and ensure we're consistently audit-ready
Servers & on-prem infrastructure
Look after Neara's external servers and in-office on-premise hardware
Own the on-premise roadmap as we grow — additional servers, data centres, GPU hardware and beyond
WHO YOU ARE
5+ years of, hands-on IT ops experience - ideally in a company that moves quickly and expects people to take initiative
Equally comfortable with physical IT and operational work - network cabinet one day, vendor negotiation the next
Genuinely organised - vendors, subscriptions, documentation and access controls don't slip through the cracks on your watch
A clear communicator who collaborates well across teams, whether that's Engineering, Finance or a new employee on their first day
Proactive by nature - you flag issues before they escalate and look for ways to improve things without being asked
Someone who takes compliance seriously and knows how to translate policy into sustainable, practical process
Admin-level experience with Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365
Hands-on MDM experience — Jamf, Intune, or similar
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals — DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls
Experience managing SSO (Okta, Google SSO, or similar)
Practical familiarity with SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001 IT controls
A track record managing software licensing and SaaS vendor relationships
Server and on-premise hardware experience is a strong plus
Clear documentation habits — you write things down in a way that's actually useful to others
WHAT WE ARE OFFERING YOU
An opportunity to establish the future of Neara’s IT function and having a meaningful impact on the company operations
Competitive salary and meaningful ESOP participation.
