DC AREA, NORTHERN VIRGINIA

SIX TO NINE MONTH POSITION (with potential to convert to full-time)

Overview Energy is building a mission-driven team committed to delivering space-based solar power to the world. We uniquely operate at the intersection of space and clean energy. We are based in the DC area, backed by world-class investors, and are operating in stealth mode.

You will use your expertise in problem solving to answer challenging questions around our technology, business model, fundraising strategy, and techno-economics. Initially, you will be responsible for leveraging your analysis and storytelling skills to build and codify our strategy in these areas. You will then increasingly support ongoing fundraising and partnership development. You will report to the Chief of Staff (former management consultant) and work with the co-founders (technical experts), engineers, and consultants.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute fundraising strategy, materials (e.g., including our next pitch deck), and process (e.g., tracking conversations and taking great notes)
  • Develop a strategic point of view on Overview Energy’s go-to-market strategy, capital requirements, and the role of space-based solar power in the energy transition
  • Conduct one-off analyses to tackle key strategic topics around business plan, commercial model, and energy markets in response to questions from investors, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Support general activities around government affairs, PR/comms, operations, and other tasks that may come up outside of your core role

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in top-tier management consulting or investment banking
  • Desire to work in a fast paced start up environment
  • Excellent writing/visual storytelling and numerical modeling skills
  • Willingness to dive deep into complex technical concepts
  • Ability to translate complex technical content into a more widely-consumable format

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field
  • Experience with aerospace, energy, or climate technology
  • Experience with financial or techno-economic modeling
  • Experience with commercial due diligence
  • Working knowledge of computer scripting or data science languages and methods (e.g., Python)

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
