Electro-Mechanical Laboratory Technician

Job Overview:

Pacific Fusion is seeking an excellent Electro-Mechanical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team and create the path to commercial fusion energy. Based in Fremont, CA, our company is pushing the boundaries of fusion technology. As an Electro-Mechanical Laboratory Technician, you will play an essential role in assisting our engineering team with the assembly, testing, and validation of electrical and mechanical components integral to our fusion energy systems. Your technical skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach are fundamental to our success.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the assembly, installation, and maintenance of our fusion systems.

  • Support the engineering team during the design, development, and testing phases of the fusion system

  • Help troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (including electrical, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers) to ensure systems integration and effectiveness.

  • Maintain the laboratory environment, ensuring that all tools, equipment, and workspaces are clean, safe, and organized.

  • Comply with all safety and regulatory requirements applicable to the company, including ISO, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a technician in a hands-on setting.

  • Familiarity with CAD software for viewing and interpreting design schematics is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and protocols.

  • Preferred candidates will have experience in hands-on tasks such as machining, welding, construction, auto mechanic, or other similar tasks.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the physical ability to squat, reach, climb, prolonged periods of standing, frequent lifting of objects up to 50 lbs, and regular hands-on work with tools and equipment in the laboratory.
