Job Description:
Parallel Systems is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical and electromechanical systems for our autonomous rail vehicles. This role will focus on high-voltage power systems, low-voltage compute and sensor networks, wireless communications, and system integration for electric vehicle applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with real hardware systems, PCB design and testing skills, and expertise in system-level architecture and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-voltage power systems and drivetrains for electric vehicles
- Architect and implement safety critical low-voltage compute, sensor networks, and communication systems
- Perform PCB design, prototyping, and testing for power electronics and embedded systems
- Interface with third-party electronics for system integration and performance verification
- Develop system-level electrical architecture, ensuring safety, reliability, and scalability
- Oversee hardware analysis, testing, validation, and troubleshooting throughout the product lifecycle
- Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to ensure seamless system integration
Requirements:
- BS in electrical engineering with 5+ years of work experience
- Strong expertise in electrical systems design and architecture for power, communications, and embedded systems
- Hands-on experience with testing, debugging, and validation of electronic hardware
- Knowledge of embedded systems, sensor interfaces, and communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with automotive or industrial functional safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Experience with high-voltage electric vehicle drivetrains and power electronics
- Background in communications equipment and networking hardware
- Knowledge of harnessing design, cabling, and EMI mitigation techniques
- Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and energy storage solutions
- Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools for electrical systems (SPICE, MATLAB, etc.).
