IT Specialist
Parallel Systems is seeking a hands-on IT Specialist to support and operate the company’s internal IT systems. This role focuses on execution, reliability, and day-to-day support of our corporate IT environment across offices and teams.
You will report into the Software organization and work primarily on-site at our California offices. You will partner closely with IT leadership and play a critical role in keeping systems, devices, and employees productive as the company scales.
Responsibilities
- Support and maintain corporate IT infrastructure, including office networking, conference room systems, end-user devices, and cloud-based tools
- Execute network and infrastructure improvement projects in partnership with IT leadership
- Provision, manage, and deprovision access to corporate SaaS applications and internal systems
- Perform hands-on, on-site technical work including installing, configuring, repairing, and replacing computers, peripherals, network equipment, and software
- Provide responsive technical support to employees via Slack, email, phone, and in person, meeting defined service level expectations
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding by preparing devices, configuring access, and ensuring timely setup and deprovisioning
- Manage corporate devices and assist with operation of internal MDM services across endpoints
- Implement and follow cybersecurity best practices and security controls as defined by IT leadership
- Track IT tickets through JIRA to completion and communicate progress, blockers, and resolution clearly
- Document common issues, fixes, and procedures to improve support consistency and efficiency
What Success Looks Like
- After 30 days: You understand Parallel’s IT environment, including network layout, device fleet, and core software stack. You are executing assigned tasks independently, meeting defined SLAs, and working with IT leadership to prioritize high-impact support and infrastructure work.
- After 60 days: You are independently managing the IT ticket backlog, communicating clearly with stakeholders, and consistently meeting or improving response times. You are proactively identifying recurring issues and suggesting process or tooling improvements.
- After 90 days: You have delivered at least one meaningful improvement, such as a new SLA, workflow automation, documentation update, or technology enhancement that measurably improves employee experience, reliability, or response time.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or 3+ years of full-time professional IT experience
- Experience administering Active Directory or equivalent identity systems in a corporate environment
- Hands-on experience with office and enterprise networking equipment such as Unifi or comparable solutions
- Experience using MDM platforms to manage corporate devices and endpoints
- Broad familiarity with computer hardware, operating systems, and productivity software, including Windows, macOS, Linux, and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues across devices, software, and network connectivity
- Understanding of IT security best practices and basic security hygiene
- Ability to perform on-site physical tasks, including standing, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of authentication and identity protocols such as Kerberos, SAML, OAuth, or similar technologies
- Understanding of wireless networking technologies, security configurations, and basic network planning
- Experience supporting fast-growing or engineering-focused organizations
