Who are we:

Grassroots Carbon Public Benefit LLC, is building the #1 grasslands soil carbon storage company. We are a fast-growing start-up and Soilworks Natural Capital portfolio company based in San Antonio, TX. Our rapidly expanding land steward network covers over 6 million acres of grasslands across the US, and we have built a foundation of scientific rigor, quality, and trust. Leading companies like Microsoft, Marathon Oil, HEB, Shopify, and Nestle have selected Grassroots Carbon to reach their carbon reduction goals.

Grassroots Carbon offers ranchers additional revenue opportunities via our carbon credit program. We support farmers and ranchers to manage their land for healthy soils, which store more carbon and improve water quality and biodiversity. We are on a mission to convert millions of acres of degraded grazing lands into healthy, thriving grassland ecosystems that capture and store increased amounts of carbon.

The Role:

As a Carbon Technical Manager at Grassroots Carbon Public Benefit LLC, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission to convert millions of acres of degraded grazing lands into healthy, thriving grassland ecosystems. You will lead the development and management of processes essential for the submission of supporting materials during annual verification cycles. This includes utilizing GIS software (such as QGIS and ArcGIS) and other systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Your responsibilities will extend to supporting verification processes, developing and updating annual monitoring processes, and liaising between Grassroots Carbon and verifiers, registries, and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of processes to manage data for submission of supporting materials during annual verification (i.e. QGIS/ArcGIS, excel workbooks)
  • Support the verification process, including responding to requests from verification auditors
  • Support the Operations and Technical teams in developing annual monitoring processes, and updating such processes as issues arise
  • Support the Project Lead to liaise between GRC and verifiers before and during verification
  • Help execute QA/QC for data inputs and document prep for monitoring and verification
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues around data collection and management, rancher account management, and reporting to buyers
  • Develop creative solutions that help landowners and field managers gain access to carbon markets – data collection, monitoring practices, storytelling, etc. are all relevant to the carbon credit journey
