Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a highly motivated and results-oriented Materials Engineer to join our dynamic team dedicated to recovering rare earth elements in a rare earth metal refinery. You will leverage your extensive experience and contribute significantly to this cutting-edge process, ensuring efficient and responsible extraction of these critical resources for clean energy technologies, electric vehicles, and advanced electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives for developing, testing, and characterizing materials suitable for high-temperature metals production, including metal casting and post-processing, to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct materials testing under simulated production conditions to evaluate performance, longevity, and recyclability.
- Optimize metal production processes through material selection, including considerations for recycling.
- Analyze furnace requirements, electrolyte compatibility, and process conditions for materials selection and recycling.
- Integrate advanced materials solutions into existing and new production systems
- Utilize materials analytical techniques to understand material behaviors under production conditions.
- Identify trends, challenges, and improvement opportunities and prepare detailed experimental and analytical reports.
- Collaborate with various teams, including chemical engineers, metallurgists, process technicians, and the research team, to seamlessly integrate material solutions
- Document materials development efforts, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings effectively.
- Stay updated on the latest materials technology trends and advancements in critical metals production.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or related field.
- 2+ years experience in metallurgical engineering within metals production or related sector
- Proficiency in materials characterization tools such as Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS).
- Strong analytical skills for data analysis, utilizing tools like statistical software and data visualization techniques.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrating adaptability and efficiency in meeting project deadlines and objectives.
