Role Overview

Experienced software engineer to Develop and maintain our MES/SCADA which is based on the Inductive Automation Ignition platform and integrates with ERP and other systems. This individual will work in a manufacturing environment to integrate PLCs, databases, and industrial applications. This person works closely with manufacturing team that owns machine design and PLC development, as well as automation, IT, and OT network teams across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop screens and reusable components within Ignition and Perspective, as well as maintain full stack ignition projects including SQL Server Development.
  • Integrate Ignition with ERP systems (e.g., Infor LN) via APIs and Data Lake, as well as other business systems.
  • Manage tag, script, and SQL database functionality.
  • Develop real-time dashboards and HMI interfaces for shop floor
  • Implement error handling, data mapping, and interface templates
  • Collaborate with IT, controls engineers, quality, ERP and manufacturing teams to define requirements.
  • Participate in on-call support and incident resolution
  • Support deployments and version control of Ignition projects.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure system reliability
  • Participate in DevOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines

Use Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence (or equivalents

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education

    • Bachelors degree or equivalent demonstrable experience.

    Required Skills/Experience

    • 2-5+ years of experience with Ignition by Inductive Automation. Ideal candidate will have at least five years.
    • Proficiency developing in Python.
    • Familiarity with Perspective frontend.
    • Experience with SQL database interaction and SQL best practices.
    • Strong understanding of SCADA, HMI, and industrial automation
    • Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, SQL, and ERP integration
    • Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and data visualization
    • Experience in manufacturing environments is a plus but not required
    • Understanding of Agile Methodology.
