Job Summary
We are currently seeking a systematic thinker with a commitment to operational excellence to join our Enterprise Quality Department as a Quality Improvement Engineer. This critical role will be responsible for enhancing the organization’s quality toolkit, leading structured problem-solving workshops, and implementing robust methodologies to ensure product and process excellence across manufacturing operations. This position is instrumental in fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and improvement across the organization.
This role can be remote in the following states: FL, GA, IL, KS, NC, NE, SD, TN, TX, WI, WY. This role requires up to 50% travel.
Responsibilities
- Lead the enhancement of the organization’s quality toolkit by facilitating structured improvement initiatives and deploying core problem-solving and risk management methodologies including FMEA, Control Plans, A3 Thinking, 5Whys, and Fishbone Diagrams and other Six Sigma tools such as SIPOC, Pareto Analysis, and Control Charts.
- Apply statistical process analysis techniques to monitor, control, and improve manufacturing performance, utilizing tools such as Control Charts, Process Capability Studies, Regression Analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Provide training and mentorship on quality tools and methodologies to build capability across manufacturing sites.
- Champion quality improvement initiatives across cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence and ensure alignment with enterprise quality standards.
- Design, implement, and continuously enhance enterprise-wide quality assurance processes to align with ISO standards, industry best practices, and organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to identify process inefficiencies and lead improvement initiatives.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring process documentation and execution meet ISO and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for process-related non-conformances.
- Develop and maintain process maps, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Lead or support Six Sigma projects to drive measurable improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
- Analyze quality data and process metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide training and guidance to facility teams on process standards, quality tools, and best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes impacting quality processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- 5+ years of experience in quality, process engineering or continuous improvement roles, preferably in transformer or electrical equipment manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, IEEE transformer standards and Six Sigma principles.
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) or CQE preferred.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with experience in statistical tools and quality software.
- Proven experience deploying quality tools within the DMAIC framework (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control).
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites.
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing and supplier locations as needed.
