About the role

Plenty is looking for a Finance Manager to join our Finance team. The Finance team is responsible for overseeing financial operations, strategic planning, and analysis to help drive the company’s growth by partnering with business leaders and refining a scalable financial and operating infrastructure. In this role, you will primarily support our R&D (Research & Development) function (Plant Science, Engineering, Product Management, and Software/Data), providing financial insights, driving cost optimization, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Plenty is at the forefront of ag-tech, dedicated to improving and transforming indoor farming, and you can have a direct impact on our success.

What you'll do

  • Support both operational and capital project financial forecasts for Plenty’s R&D organization
  • Work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate project accounting, including tracking capital expenditures, project milestones, and associated costs
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate the financial feasibility and profitability of R&D projects, including cost-benefit analyses, ROI calculations, and scenario planning
  • In collaboration with business leaders, ensure accurate and timely preparation, review and consolidation of budgets. Track spending against budget and provide regular reports to leadership
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Analyze project costs, identify cost drivers, and implement strategies to optimize spending while maintaining high quality research
  • Prepare regular financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Provide financial insights and guidance on resource allocation, investment decisions, and business strategy to key stakeholders and senior management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Legal, People, and Operations to drive financial success and alignment with Plenty’s OKRs (Objectives & Key Results)
  • In collaboration with supply chain and project managers, create and manage cost codes and approval limits in Plenty ERP systems, including implementation of project change control processes and decisions
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop financial forecasts, annual budgets, and long-term financial plans for the R&D department
  • Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies that may impact the financial aspects of R&D projects
  • Others duties as assigned

What you'll bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Proven experience throughout 8+ years in finance management, preferably in a technology-focused organization
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Financial (operational) modeling skills; Netsuite a plus
  • Deep knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes Proficiency in financial analysis, cost optimization, and variance analysis
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate financial information into actionable insights
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%
