About the role

Plenty is looking for a Staff Program Manager to join our Product Management team. The Product Management team oversees the Plenty Product Pipeline and Plenty Engineering projects from concept through launch, including conceptualization, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and turnover to customers. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and overall project management of Farms and capital projects within Farm assets from concept to deployment. In this role you will be responsible to ensure projects meet business requirements set forth in the Company Plan of Record and align to the overall programmatic delivery embedded within the Product Management strategy and organization. You will be responsible for overall program planning for new programs across all work streams including real estate/site selection, engineering design construction, commissioning and launch. This includes stewarding program related decisions and leading an integrated scheduling, budgeting and cost forecasting for the entire program. You will help contribute to Plenty achieve its mission to improve the life of Plants, People, and Planet by providing Plenty’s delicious produce to the world.

What you'll do

  • Oversee end-to-end development of Plenty programs including planning, schedule, cost from concept to handoff to operations
  • Lead a cross functional team of leaders to ensure appropriate resource loading for activities in all stages of development according to farm requirements, business KPIs and Research & Development (R&D) resourcing needs
  • Define program organization structure and collaborate with cross functional teams to define project roles & responsibilities
  • Responsible for reporting on program updates to leadership, including cost, schedule and performance, and identifying key program risks and mitigations that require leadership attention, including generating content and running governance meetings on a regular cadence
  • Define cost breakdown structure (budget codes) for the program, budget owners and define cadence for project spend forecasting and reporting in conjunction with Plenty Finance and where applicable, cost consultants.
  • Manage the overall program schedule, including the development of program schedule across all areas in collaboration with owner scheduling resources and maintain schedule reporting and analysis cadence
  • Implement change management practices and ensure they are adhered to throughout the program, fit for purpose at each stage gate
  • Author and maintain program risk register(s) to identify and rank risks, and ensure risk mitigations/owners are in place for technical and business risks
  • Lead weekly cross-functional program meetings to define priorities week-to-week and ensure activities across site selection, real estate, design, pre-construction, construction, commissioning and launch are programs are progressing and align to overall program timeline & work plan
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to define what Plenty Intellectual Property (IP )may be included in each project instance and assess tech development and supply chain risk to ensure R&D delivery in alignment with Farm Project schedule
  • Ensure pre-construction planning and construction execution plans are being developed in advance of construction starting, including leveraging past learnings
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to innovate in our farm designs to drive down costs, shorten deployment durations and iterate improvements through successive deployments
  • Support in other upstream asset planning including but not limited to sales, real estate, incentives, tax, utilities, and Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives
  • Manage time judiciously to prioritize tasks based on urgency and priority and leverage others where needed through delegation, out-sourcing and escalation
  • Prepare content for Board updates as needed

What you'll bring to the table

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering preferred and/or similar acquired skills from experience in a technical field with exposure to large capital projects
  • 10+ years experience preferably with exposure to industrial sectors such as Agriculture, Food & Bev, OIl & Gas, and/or Power
  • Project management experience in large scale capital project managementExperience with basic project management tools including action logs, schedules, cost forecasting/reporting, and risk registers
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator across various working levels and particular, ability to listen, receive feedback, distill information and constructively create action plans
  • Time management skills & ability to prioritize tasks for self and others
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset
  • Desire to work in fast-paced environment
  • Highly collaborative mindset and desire to improve work processes & innovate
  • Ability to work on projects across all development stages, with little definition and high degree of business & technical uncertainty
  • Willingness to travel ~25%
