ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Content & Communications to lead all aspects of marketing communications and brand. This senior leadership role is essential for driving market awareness, enhancing brand visibility, and supporting top-of-the-funnel sales activities through a range of communications channels, including public relations, media interactions, thought leadership, social media, and internal communications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing and executing integrated communications strategies with a focus on both external and internal stakeholders. Experience in the energy industry, particularly renewable energy, is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
External Communications & Brand Management:
- Integrated Communications Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies to elevate brand awareness, generate demand, and position the company as a leader in the renewable energy software sector.
- Content creation: Lead content creation efforts across key channels, including website content, blogs, thought leadership articles, case studies, and white papers, ensuring alignment with demand generation campaign goals, focused on ‘top of funnel’.
- Content & Digital Strategy: Leverage strong understanding of digital marketing tools and demand gen best practices to inform content strategy with ongoing feedback loop based on content performance analytics.
- Social media: Manage and grow the company’s presence across social media platforms, fostering engagement and conversations around key industry topics and company innovations.
- Thought Leadership Presence: Drive market awareness through identification of speaking engagements, interviews, and thought leadership opportunities for company executives and subject matter experts.
- Internal Communications: Lead internal communications efforts, ensuring the voice of leadership is effectively communicated across the organization through corporate town halls and monthly executive messaging to ensure transparency and engagement across all levels of the organization.
- Public Relations & Industry Recognition: Oversee public relations efforts, including the preparation and distribution of news releases, managing media relationships, and pursuit of industry recognition through earned media, awards and market analyst influence.
Competencies Required:
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or brand management roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience in leading successful communications and public relations strategies, including managing news releases, media interactions, and external communications campaigns.
- Experience in the energy industry, particularly renewable energy or energy software technology, is a significant plus.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, including content marketing, social media, SEO, and analytics, as inputs to integrated channel/content strategy.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives.
- Experience managing corporate websites, blogs, and social media channels.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with sales, product, and executive teams to drive brand strategy and messaging.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in managing news releases through wire services (e.g., PR Newswire, Business Wire) is a bonus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Strong project management skills and experience using relevant tools (including Trello, Hubspot and Salesforce).
- Strategic thinker with a passion for renewable energy and sustainability.
