About PowerFlex
PowerFlex is on a mission to equip organizations with intelligent onsite solutions that support carbon-free electrification and transportation. We do this with energy and economic co-optimization of solar, storage, and electric vehicles. Our technology was developed at Caltech, deployed with research partners like NASA, proven-out with customers like Netflix and Children’s Hospital, and now scaling to fleets, corporations, and municipalities nationwide.

Scope of Job
Product management at PowerFlex is a hands-on and cross-functional role. Product Managers are essential in planning, building, and supporting hardware and software products that our users love coming back to, time and again. We hire Product Managers who place a premium on scalability, security, and supportability.

Commitment to Sustainability
This role requires a passion for advancing renewable energy solutions and a commitment to environmental stewardship as a core professional and personal value. We are looking for candidates who are not just knowledgeable about sustainability but are driven to make a significant impact in reducing environmental footprints through innovative integrated hardware and software product development. This commitment is at the heart of everything we do at PowerFlex, influencing how we design, build, and innovate every product in our portfolio.

Location
This role is open to be 100% remote or a hybrid role out of one of our offices (Mountain View, CA, Los Angeles, CA, San Diego, CA or New York, NY.) For candidates not based in Mountain View, CA or greater Bay Area, quarterly travel to the Mountain View Office would be required.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Vision

  • Develop and articulate a sharp vision for hardware and software products that align with PowerFlex’s mission to drive sustainable energy solutions.
  • Create and maintain a strategic roadmap, defining long-term and short-term objectives that support both market needs and technological advancements.

Product Development & Management

  • Lead the product lifecycle from concept through development, launch, and post-launch enhancements and support.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to define product requirements, ensuring that specifications meet both the technical and customer needs.

Market & Customer Insight

  • Be an expert in understanding current trends, potential customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Regularly engage with customers and incorporate their feedback and insights into product development processes to ensure the product meets market demand.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Serve as the key liaison between cross functional teams, including engineering, product marketing, business development, and customer support, ensuring alignment and facilitation communication.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders and vendors, assisting with contract negotiations and ensuring compliance with various company and industry standards.

QA & Performance Monitoring

  • Establish rigorous testing protocols and QA processes to ensure the products meet the highest standards of reliability and functionality.
  • Monitor product performance against key metrics to identify areas for improvement and guide future product enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Your specific combination of education and/or experience translates into your ability to deliver shippable products.
  • Prior professional experience in hardware product management, especially related to IoT, edge compute, and other technologies.
  • Startup experience and comfort with the tech industry is desired.
  • A commitment to shaping the future of sustainable energy and transportation.

Skills

At PowerFlex, we're looking for people with passion, grit, and integrity. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't match the job description. You could be an extremely ambitious recent college grad with a passion for electric vehicles or an experienced PO that thrives on shipping product.
