Summary:
The Director of Project Engineering plays a crucial role in leading and managing all aspects of the post-contract technical engagement with our clients and our internal partners. This role will drive the quality and predictability of drawing production, act as the central hub of matching customer requirements to our core product capabilities, and lead a team of Project Engineers. The Director will work closely with the Project Executive team, Product and Engineering Teams, and our third-party partners to ensure high quality, predictable delivery of project-level documentation for each of our projects.
Job Details:
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project engineers, ensuring alignment with company goals. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Project Execution: Oversee planning and execution of engineering projects from inception to completion. Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards, technical standards, and timelines. Monitor project progress and provide technical guidance to address challenges.
- Technical Oversight: Develop and approve engineering designs, specifications, and system configurations for projects. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. Optimize system designs for cost, performance, and reliability.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, supply chain, product managers, system engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project engineering alignment and smooth execution, and the implementation of the latest technology. Represent the engineering team in meetings and technical discussions.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement best practices to enhance project engineering efficiency and project delivery. Stay updated on advancements in technologies and integrate innovative solutions into projects.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate technical risks associated with project execution. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for engineering issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience in project engineering, preferably in energy storage, distributed generation, data center equipment, or large-scale electrical equipment experience.
- 8+ years of managerial experience with demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams, with significant experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong project management skills and experience overseeing complex, cross-functional projects. PMP or an equivalent certification is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and technologies.
- Proven excellence in project engineering, capable of handling a complex customer environment.
- Demonstrated experience in Customer Requirements definition, Project-level requirements definition, and Project Development.
- Understanding of industry codes and standards such as UL, IEC, and IEEE.
- Demonstrated experience in responding to and winning utility or large-scale customer RFPs.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, works with a sense of urgency.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Remote position within the United States with the ability and willingness to travel as needed for business.

Compensation for this position is commensurate with location, experience and relevant skills. The national Average Base Salary Range is $172,000 - $246,000. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and personal performance.
