Position Summary: We are seeking motivated interns interested in working at the intersection of plant science and nanotechnology. Your background can range from chemistry, materials science, engineering, to plant science, biology, or ecology. The work can focus on a couple potential areas, including a.) the refinement and characterization of nanofertilizer formulations, and b.) the evaluation of nanofertilizer performance in plant and greenhouse studies. This position is open to Bachelor’s or Master’s level students looking for practical research experience. Unique opportunity in the Boston area to gain hands-on experience in applied research and contribute to sustainable agriculture efforts!
Key Responsibilities:
- Greenhouse Studies - Assist in designing and conducting experiments to evaluate fertilizer performance through plant studies
- Tissue Sampling and Analysis - Collect and process plant samples for nutrient and growth analyses
and/or
- Wet Lab Work- Optimize wet chemistry syntheses which utilize green chemistry reagents
- Materials Characterization - Evaluate nanofertilizer composition and structure using tools including electron microscopy (TEM, SEM)
Qualifications:
- Background in a related scientific or technical field (e.g., plant science, chemistry, biology, materials science, ecology, or engineering)
- Current Bachelor’s or Master’s student
- Prior experience in plant work and/or lab procedures; previous agricultural exposure is a plus
- Strong organizational and communication skills
