TITLE: Senior Manufacturing Controls Engineer - Battery

Duties: Design, modify, and implement processes and equipment to allow continuous improvement and grow battery production capacity. Participate in equipment specification and standard creation, release to vendor, and assist with RFQ preparation and quote technical evaluation. Guide application of standards by external automation suppliers through specification, design review, and approvals. Evaluate, update and create electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics, process and instrumentation diagrams. Validate new automated process equipment for deployment into production. Develop controls standards and specification for application by internal equipment development team and external partners. This position requires 10% domestic travel.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field of study and four (4) years of experience as (all levels) Manufacturing Control Engineer, Controls Engineer or related role where required experience gained.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Also requires four (4) years of experience in the following:

  • Architecting, writing, and debugging PLCs using Ladder and/or Structured Text with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable;
  • Developing and supporting FactoryTalk View ME, Ignition, Visual Factory and MES applications;
  • Implementing (ANSI/06/OSHA compliant) control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, gantries, conveyors, and other high-volume manufacturing equipment;
  • Debugging and optimizing automated processes for new designs to minimize cycle time, maximize availability and improve yield;
  • Commission Rockwell ArmorStart and 755 VFDs, 5700 Servo Drives, Rockwell RFID readers/writers, Keyence barcode markers and readers; and
  • Creating HMI, MES and SCADA screens that are suitable for operating and troubleshooting equipment.
