About the Role – You will:
As a Industrial Engineering Intern, you will:
- Analyze production processes and workflows to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in designing and optimizing facility layouts to maximize space utilization and streamline operations.
- Conduct time studies and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve process consistency and efficiency.
- Support data collection and analysis to evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend actionable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in cost analysis and resource allocation projects to support decision-making processes.
- Document and communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to the team.
About Our Group:
The emerging Proterra continuous improvement/Industrial Engineering group is focused on manufacturing excellence and aimed at improving all aspects of production efficiency. In this role, you will work with automated and manual processes to help understand, define, and improve production flow, efficiency and output. You will apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to analyze potential changes within the process and make data backed recommendations to the manufacturing team. As a member of this team, you will work with cross-function teams to collect data and generate ideas of proposed improvements with the ability to lead a change project from start to implementation phase.
Your Experience Includes:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of industrial engineering principles, lean manufacturing, and process optimization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CAD or process simulation software is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Passion for process improvement and a proactive approach to learning.

- Location: This is a full-time, paid internship opportunity based in Greer, South Carolina, at Proterra Powered.
