Applications Engineer
PulSenics
Applications Engineer
Position Overview
Pulsenics is seeking an Applications Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on experience working with electrochemical systems and data-driven experimentation. This role sits at the intersection of EIS analysis, experimental design, and customer-facing technical problem solving.
You will work directly with industrial and research customers to scope complex technical challenges, design structured experiments, and convert EIS and process data into clear, actionable intelligence. This role requires sound engineering judgment, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to operate effectively in environments where data is imperfect, and constraints are real.
This is not a support-only role. It is intended for engineers who can independently analyze problems, propose experiments, and guide customers toward defensible technical conclusions.
What We’re Looking For
Engineers who are structured, analytical, and disciplined in how they approach technical problems.
Individuals who can move from raw data to insight without solely relying on predefined scripts or checklists.
People who are comfortable owning problems end-to-end, from scoping through analysis and recommendation.
Clear communicators who can balance technical depth with practical application.
Candidates who value rigor, clarity, and intellectual honesty over volume.
Key Responsibilities
Scope customer technical challenges by identifying key variables, constraints, and hypotheses before proposing experimental or analytical approaches.
Design and execute structured Design of Experiments (DoE) to validate assumptions, isolate root causes, and generate statistically meaningful insights.
Troubleshoot complex measurement, data interpretation, and system-integration issues involving hardware, firmware, software, and test environments.
Translate raw electrochemical and process data into clear technical narratives, recommendations, and decision-ready outputs for customers.
Analyze and interpret EIS and process data to diagnose electrochemical behavior, degradation mechanisms, and system-level performance issues.
Work closely with customers to improve experimental setups, test protocols, and data quality to ensure reliable and repeatable results.
Collaborate with Product Development, Software, and Operations teams to inform product improvements, new features, and application-specific workflows.
Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, application notes, and best-practice guides related to EIS analysis and experimentation.
Deliver technical training sessions, workshops, and deep-dive discussions with customers on EIS principles, interpretation, and industrial use cases.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience working with electrochemical systems, experimental data, or related applications.
Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting EIS data in real experimental or industrial contexts.
Hands-on experience designing experiments and working with multi-variable datasets; familiarity with DOE is strongly preferred.
Proficiency in data analysis and scripting tools (e.g., Python) for processing, visualizing, and interpreting experimental data.
Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation, test automation, and electrochemical measurement best practices.
Ability to independently reason through complex technical problems and arrive at defensible conclusions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience explaining technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience working directly with customers or cross-functional teams in a technical capacity.
