About the team: The SSC team is a diverse group of engineers, scientists working on scaling up the solid-state cathode production, a big challenge to the advancement of all-solid state battery technology commercialization. The team prides themselves by processes development, problem solving skills, and quality control.

What we need: The SSC team is seeking process engineer who will fine-tune process variables to design R&D processes, work with other engineers and technicians for implementation, and facilitate in stabilizing the process and improving efficiency, and maintain baseline production using statistical process control. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running, and ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy storage technology. What You’ll do:

  • Spearhead the development, establishment, and scaling up of processes for all-solid-state cathode.

  • Maintain control chart, monitor critical process parameters, and correct any issues after identification.

  • Continuously develop process procedures for improvement and maintain up to date standard operating procedures (SOPs). Lead in training sessions for engineers and technicians for any new process.

  • Coordinate experiment schedules and ensure the readiness of materials, machinery, and personnel.

  • Assist with the start-up of new equipment, such as developing process parameters and implement operator training plans.

  • Evaluate new and existing equipment and develop for long-term machinery strategy.

  • Assist in data automation and analysis for key process variables.

  • Participate in design and safety reviews to comprehend technical specifications of equipment.

  • Utilize excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate closely with internal and external collaborators.

Skills You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or similar.

  • Basic knowledge in electrochemistry and process control.

  • Hand-on experience in device fabrication and lab work.

  • Ability to work in a dry-room with PPE.

  • Rely on data to make technical decisions and ability to clearly explain technical issues.

  • Excellent communication skills and record keeping skills.

  • Well organized, attention to details and high project management skills

  • Love working closely with a team in fast-paced environment.

Nice to have:

  • Background in the battery industry

  • Strong background in data analysis and statistical process control

  • Experience in lab/people management

Physical requirements:

  • Work is performed in a dry room, fume hood, lab area, or glovebox requiring the use of fine motor skills

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time

  • Reaching and twisting motions with hands

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs.

ONSITE:

This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits:

Expected salary range for this role is from $98,500 to $128,100, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate's experience and educational background. QuantumScape also offers an annual bonus and a generous RSU/Equity package as part of its compensation plan. In addition, we do offer a tremendous benefits plan including employee paid health care, Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), and other benefits.
